10.0This property is a former palace and is beautiful! It has all the history of a Matera cave house but the modern amenities that compromise a very nice hotel. My room was spacious and spotless. They had a wide array of gluten free breakfast items - gluten free bread, cereals, brownies - and they had almond milk as I cannot have dairy. Best of all - the staff could not have been any nicer. They are from Matera and have some amazing stories about their families living in the Sassi. You can tell how much pride they take in their jobs and the passion they have for Matera. They also genuinely love people and it shines through in their service. I also had back surgery in November, so moving luggage isn’t the easiest. They have an elevator on the property if you need it and they assisted with transporting my baggage from my taxi upon arrival to the hotel, and to my taxi upon departure. Anything you need and they will take care of you. I would highly recommend staying here. Beautiful view and the perfect location. You’re within walking distance of all the churches, restaurants and shops. Giovanna and Marco at the front desk were so wonderful!

Fabulous hotel with much to offer
10.0Perfect location in Matera with a wonderful view of caves, canyon and church. Clean spacious room, friendly accommodating staff and a surprise rooftop restaurant with great food and a beautiful place to watch the sun set.
− Would like other visitors to know they MUST book a parking space ahead of time if you have a car. It's not a problem but you must do ahead of time.
