Avoid!!! Drive to the next town.
2.0I’m still in the room as I type this. It’s 5am and I can hear the person above me stomping around. That being said, I wish that was the worst of it! We arrived around 6:30pm after driving 10 hours and were only staying for one night, passing through town. The only reason we stayed here or even stopped in this city was because my mom somehow thought she was getting us a “suite” that would have a third bed option. However when we arrived we were told they don’t have suites. I’m not sure what happened there but okay. So they then offer us a roll away bed, for $20! My mom felt we had no choice and agreed. We get to the room and get everything unloaded for the night only to realize the TV volume is broken. There’s no sound. I attempt to call the front desk but the phone also doesn’t work. So I call from my cell phone. I’m told the phone is broken in this room, and if I want to walk down to the office I can pick up a different remote and try it on the TV. I have zero confidence that is going to work, and I ask her why she gave us a room that she knew the phone didn’t work? I also told her I just had knee surgery and was icing for the first time all day and didn’t want to walk down there, but that was the only way this was possibly getting resolved! She also informed me that if we needed to switch rooms we would be charged to do so since we had already walked into this one! What??? I walked down there and immediately ask for a manager. Of course, there isn’t one on property! I tell her this is unacceptable and her response was “I’ve done all I can do for you.” I told her I’ve been in the hotel business before and I would NEVER do as little as she has and say that to a guest! Her dismissive and unbothered attitude I’m sure stems from the fact that this hotel is pretty much the only option in this town. There’s no desire to be accommodating. I reminded her of our experience thus far and how we had to PAY for an extra bed because we were told they had suites and they don’t. To which she responded “I’m not giving you a free room!” What? I told her I didn’t want a free room but I didn’t think it was right they charged us for the bed! They easily could have apologized and threw it in for free due to the misunderstanding. And to charge us to change rooms is INSANE! She said if the TV doesn’t work then she wouldn’t charge us but they wouldn’t move us just because of the phone. They have several rooms apparently that the phones don’t work and they just “don’t fix them” because they know everyone has cell phones. I told her I don’t care about the phone but we do need a working TV. So we did have to end up moving rooms. She did offer to reverse the $20 charge for the extra bed. (Which she never did. We learned at check out. She didn’t even make notes about moving us and we almost got charged for BOTH ROOMS) However she herself had to come down and confirm the TV wasn’t working. I’ve just never stayed in a hotel that was so blatant about their money! Charging for everything! If there is an issue with a room, I’ve never been told I’d be charged to move. These rooms were decently clean, but the bed springs are so loud they echo in the middle of the night. The toilet extends out far enough that you run into it when you walk in because it’s in front of the door! You have to walk around it to get in the bathroom! Also, there aren’t a lot of food options. We opted for Mc Donald’s. I think there is a Subway and a random Mexican restaurant. That’s it! The McDonalds experience was almost as bad as the hotel experience. The staff was way friendlier though. Maybe get food before you arrive. However I’d rethink arriving here at all. Next time we will be passing Delta and the Days Inn!
