10.0Joan, our host, was the BEST. She was friendly, had great stories, and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The location was perfect and we were able to easily get to Salem and other surrounding areas. The view of the ocean was amazing as well. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a wonderful bed and breakfast spot in a beautiful town.

10.0Having travelled all the around the world, I can honestly say this has been one of my favourite and most memorable stays. Although listed as a hotel, the Hydrangea feels more like an exclusive homestay. Joanie is the perfect host: she’s so warm, welcoming, and friendly – and, as other guests have already said, her breakfasts are absolutely delicious. The rooms are comfy, cozy, and quirky. The location is a short drive or 10-15 minute walk to Gloucester centre along a beautiful seafront path. While everything about the Hyrdrangea is lovely and comfortable, it was Joanie who made our stay such a memorable one. She even allowed a couple of our friends to join for breakfast for one morning!

10.0Our stay with Joan exceeded our expectations, from the proximity to the seaglass beach across the street, to the lovely easy walk along the water to the large state beach…the charming eclectic decor… enjoying Joan’s stories about her curated collections and whimsical finds..the lavish breakfasts & treats…it was a breath of fresh sea air combined with the best conversation & food & the treasure hunt for sea glass that made for an unforgettable weekend! 10.0Wonderful private home with excellent hostess and full breakfast meals. Well worth the price. Owner had a fascinating history. The house had a great view of the water and was less than a block from a park and paved walkway along the water and into town. Highly recommended!
