Already Booked to Go Back Next Year
10.0Rostrevor was like coming home. Have been to Barbados over a dozen times, normally in the St Lawrence Gap area as it is convenient. We have stayed at Rostrevor three times previously and two years ago took a friends advice to try another hotel in "The Gap" that had good reviews and she had enjoyed. So we did and regretted it!! So this year back to Rostrevor and we had room 309 from the 1st May for ten days. Although the Almond Tree Restaurant does breakfast, as the room has its own kitchenette we make our own breakfast, with cereal, fruit juice and omelettes and there is pure pleasure in sitting out on the balcony looking over the ocean and being joined by the numerous birds who seem to live around the hotel and fly in for their breakfast. One small bird was so fearless that one day whilst I was relaxing on the bed he came in via the balcony and hopped onto the bed. That deserved some cooked rice we had! Given that May is generally a quiet month there was no issue getting a sunbed, as others had previously reported, and the only downside was when we last visited the hotel had its own small beach, but that has disappeared under water now following the 2024 hurricane. So if you want a beach to swim in the sea then either a walk to Worthing beach or Dover beach. Recommend Oistins on a Friday night and most fortnights horse racing at the Garrison Savannah which is enjoyable. Bridgetown has lost some of its previous sparkle with the once vibrant Broad Street now a shadow of its former self. Covid has clearly taken its toll on many shop keepers and trade with a number of now empty premises. The pool at the hotel is a good size and impressed with the renovated reception area. Staff as always very helpful and was again able to catch up with an old school friend who lives on the island. Rostrevor is a great hotel for position, facilities, and relaxation, so much so that we have already booked to return next May. Very happy to recommend.

excellent family run hotel with a personal touch
10.0This holiday was initially booked by my now husband as a 50th birthday gift for me. We then got engaged in october 2025 and decided to double up and get married at the hotel as well. Jennifer and Toree made all the necessary arrangements for the wedding for us before we arrived. When we arrived our room (202) was amazing with a kitchen living area with TV dining room table and a good size balcony that had the most amazing sea views. The bedroom was a good size with a decent sized bathroom with shower. The overall hotel was big enough with a good amount of sun beds for everyone and it never felt crowded even at breakfast. We were bed and breakfast so every morning it was a joy to go and see the team an older man some days and an older lady the other days, they always greeted us with a smile and a good morning. The rooms could do with a little bit of TLC but overall they were fine. The rooms were cleaned every day and fresh clean towels provided if you needed them. There was a decent sized pool and steps down to a rocky area where you were able to swim in the sea and see turtles of they were about. the hotel overall is good value for money. The location of the hotel is perfect on St. Lawrence gap, bars and restaurants a plenty, Sharkeys Bar was one of our favourites, Beautiful beaches everywhere all within walking distance of the hotel. I had read reviews about the noise from the bars, it is a bit noisy but if you shut the windows and the bathroom door that solves the problem. There is a massys supermarket 20 minutes walk away that has a great range of fresh produce including waitrose products if you want a bit of home but as you can imagine expensive. There is a good bus service and lots of taxis, including the reggae buses which are fun. The island itself is not massive but we hired a car which the hotel arranged for about £30 a day and we were then able to drive to some of the other places like Bathsheba, Speightstown, Sandy Lane and Bridgetown, you could probably drive around the whole island in a day. A big shout out to Toree from rostrevor who was there for our wedding and made sure everything was on track. The wedding day was very relaxed and went off smoothly, we were married in front of the sea in the hotel grounds a simple service, surrounded by our dear friends.

8.0the Rostrevor is in an ideal spot on the Gap. the staff were lovely and even found the manchester derby for me to watch at breakfast one day. the rooms are large and airy and the balcony is ideal for having a glass of wine on while listening to the sea and watching the beautiful sunset. the only reason it hasn't got 5 stars is because the pool area is a little tired and people were putting towels on sunbeds at 6am and not getting to the pool till late morning and despite notices there was never any action taken to remove them. all in all though thanks for a great stay
