Extremely Disappointing - Unpaid Reimbursement
2.0Unfortunately, my experience with Castello di Leonina has been extremely disappointing. I had a room booked for two nights in August, and upon arriving at the hotel at approximately 7:00 PM, I was informed that the air conditioning was not working (had not been working for the past 3-4 days). I was given the option to stay without AC or cancel the reservation for a full refund. I chose to cancel and was assured that I would receive my reimbursement promtly. However, despite repeated follow-ups since August, I still have not received the refund as of November. This prolonged delay and lack of resolution has been very frustrating and does not reflect the level of service I expected. I hope the hotel addresses this promptly for future guests.
Beautiful Castle and AMAZING staff
10.0My wife and I stayed here from October 1st to 4th and the service was amazing right from the start. We had rented a car in Siena, and it was a nice drive from town. Elena at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful including travel suggestions. The property is beautiful, and we sat in the outdoor bar area near the pool for drinks and snacks, in the early afternoon with a great view of the countryside. We did have dinner there the first night and it was perfect and reasonably priced. We had a hiccup with our room’s safe deposit box and the maintenance man came and fixed it within minutes and noticed a light bulb flickering in a lamp and came back right away and replaced it without any request (very nice!). Breakfasts were great with lots of selection (eggs, bacon, fruits, juices, cereals and treats). The day we had to leave, there was a bike rally in town and the Taxi company told us they would not take any advanced booking for a pickup from Enterprise rentals to get us to the train station (we had prebought train tickets for 8:00am to head to Sorento). They also suggested they may not even be able to pick us up if we got there the next morning and called then, because “there may be too many bicycles or the roads may be closed”. Roxana at the front desk tried calling them a couple times for us, in efforts to get the taxi company to arrange a pickup, to no avail (good thing I'm not writing a review about the taxi company and staff!!!!) Anyway...Roxana went out of her way to help ensure we had a ride from the car rental drop off location to the train, which meant we could sleep the night before. She was a huge help and we have nothing but great stuff about her and the staff at this castle.
A Tuscany treasure.
10.0This was a last minute choice for a seven day holiday in Tuscany. Our original hotel announced they were closing the day before we were due to fly. We wanted somewhere from where we could tour Tuscany, but was of an excellent standard, quiet and peaceful. This completely fulfilled our requirements. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. It’s essential to have a car. The hotel really is a castle and the building is spectacular. The staff are terrific, the food excellent, the room was large and very comfortable and it was so peaceful. The views are spectacular. It’s only 20 minutes from Sienna, and ideally placed to explore the beauties of Tuscany. We had no complaints. With one of us being vegetarian, the restricted selection of dishes on the dinner menu was supplemented by the chef providing additional ‘specials’. Thank you to everyone at Castello di Leonina.
No lunch. No dinner. No bar. No custom
2.0Do not stay here. It was an unfriendly hotel. They said on the day of arrival that we cannot serve lunch or dinner as the kitchens are closed. It’s miles from siena and you have to drive to get food at lunch!! They wouldn’t let us cut our stay short as they had no eating facilities. Really would not recommend this place
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location
8.0This hotel is lovely and the staff are amazing. The location is stunning. It’s like stepping back in time and feels like you are staying in history. Although It had a coupe of things which let it down the rooms didn’t have air conditioning so sleep was difficult and availability of drinks by the pool was not always great other than these two things i would have given it 5 stars. Overall the hotel is very good, food it good and the staff are amazing. The hotel has two little cats gin and tonic who are delightfully friendly. I would highly recommend if you are looking for an authentic Tuscan experience
Do not bother. Overpriced and terrible.
2.0Beautiful area vistas with very poor accommodations. Do not get sucked into photos to be ruined by what they try to pass off as a ‘hotel’. We felt sorry for the staff who clearly get it’s a joke working under such conditions. Poor operator for what could (& should) be a tremendous property. At $265/night with zero cancellation (they’ve got this scam down for sure) one anticipates: 1. enough water pressure to handle property’s demands. 2. bottled water in mini bar at a minimum: instead of nothing and outside of breakfast or lunch not available to purchase. 3. bath tub took an olympic hurdler to get into and then there’s the water pressure issue. 4. AC was inefficient and loud so sleep is impeded. 5. Breakfast was an after-thought. You’re far from nearest bar and as a captive audience at this price, you get inedible bacon, old croissants, water infused eggs and warm bottled water. Staff in dining is attentive for breakfast but there was no way we’d eat dinner or lunch. Overall, this place sets a new level of how low the bar is to have a beautiful view get ruined by a miserable excuse of how to run a hotel. Do Not Book! Drive out to see the views & save your time & money but don’t stay at this place.
