The public areas looked very nice, pity the bedrooms did not come up to the same standard.
5.0The bed was comfortable. Breakfast staff were friendly.
− The cost of £15 per day was extortionate for parking. There was mention of a restaurant for light meals in the evening in the restaurant but when mentioned at reception was told they are not doing meals but were told we could use the other hotel across the road. This was never mentioned on the website. No charging point in the bathroom for electric razor or toothbrush which meant we had to go out and purchase an adapter. The light and fan operation, which would switch off after sensing no movement, so when using the toilet would turn off and leave you in darkness, which would mean you having to open and close the door. Wooden sticks in stead of spoons made making tea and putting tea bag in the bin awkward. We noticed stains on the carpet in this area which is obviously drips from previous tea bags. There were 2 cracks in the wash basin, 1 crack on the toilet pan and a badly cracked tile on the tiled shelf.

10.0The staff at reception and restaurant were very friendly, helpful, well groomed , professional and place was very clean and welcoming. Rooms were kept fabulously clean and my room was really large with a bigger bathroom than normal UK hotels. Extremely happy with this place and will come here in the future again. Housekeeping staff were also very proactive and cleaned our room and changed towels. Very happy with the cleanliness and room space.
− Nothing to complain to be honest
Budget hotel but not at budget price
4.0The king-sized bed was extremely comfortable (but I was glad we weren't using the sofa bed as that wasn't). The room was huge, and if you were using the room for a family the additional toilet would be handy.
− There is no light switch for the bathrooms, they come on by sensor which is over sensitive and would come on even if you were passing the toilet with the door shut. One of them took ages to turn off again. If either me or my husband needed the bathroom in the night it really disturbed the others sleep. The air con unit was so loud. You could tune it out but it would cut out and start up again which woke us up. Only one side of the bed had a bedside table and lighting configuration was weird with one side having a reading light and the other having a round bulb hanging down, the lights by the bed weren't independently wired so lights were on or off. Generally the lighting in the room hadn't been considered. Since booking in March the car parking price increased from the £10/day advertised to £15. Additionally breakfast had increased from £7.50 to £12 50. When I queried this I was told they had taken over 2 weeks ago hence the bump in price as they now offered "a cooked breakfast". Their idea of a cooked breakfast and mine do not tally. We ate breakfast there the first day. The scrambled eggs were grey, the sausages looked anemic and I would question how much meat was actually in them. I only know what I was drinking was coffee because the machine told me it was. I would honestly recommend that anyone staying here avoid the breakfast at the hotel and eat out. (Norwegian Wood Cafe is a 5 min walk, it's cheaper and so much nicer). The Ibis Styles Bournemouth is a budget hotel but with extra costs it's not that budget friendly. We are coming back tomorrow Bournemouth later this year and I won't be booking here again.
