Fantastic spa. Everything else a let down.

We were kindly gifted a spa day at the Ocean Beach Hotel in Bournemouth by our mum for Christmas and unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. To start on a positive note, we genuinely cannot fault the massage and facial treatments — both were excellent, and the therapists were professional and attentive. However, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The spa facilities, located at the neighbouring hotel, were very poor. The swimming pool was cold, the sauna was small and the changing rooms were cramped, grim and lacked proper space to get changed comfortably. When we returned to the Ocean Beach Hotel for our included lunch, things did not improve. Upon arrival, we waited in the reception/bar area for around 10 minutes before a member of staff acknowledged us. Even then, the staff member walked away and appeared to argue with colleagues over who would serve us, which was quite unprofessional. Service continued to fall short during lunch. It took over an hour for our paninis to arrive, and 30 minutes after ordering, we were told there were no paninis available and asked if we would accept toasted bread instead. Additionally, when ordering prosecco, we were left to carry the drinks ourselves back to the table rather than being served. When we politely asked about a complimentary prosecco given the delays and inconvenience, we were made to feel as though this was an unreasonable request. Considering this experience cost £150 as a gift, we feel the overall service and facilities were not good enough. We’ve had far better spa experiences elsewhere, which made this all the more disappointing. Overall, while the treatments themselves were great, the poor facilities and lack of service significantly impacted our day.

My husband booked this as a surprise for my birthday. I/we were dissapointed. Bed hard, pillows were like sleeping on rock, quilt was thin like it had been on there for years and well used. Blood on pillow case. There was only use of a small pool and a well used sauna in the next hotel, my husband booked this hotel because it said it had a spa, no spa available to use in this hotel! Breakfast was put away early. Someone come in our hotel room Said on his list our room was empty? Didn't sleep much here, staff were ok, no one using the bar of an evening, no fresh water in the room. Breakfast was ok when it was available, no facilities to use? If we knew this on booking we would of chosen a different hotel.

The hotel is fine, didn’t expect much but overall i had a good stay, however the long hair night guy kept me and my friend outside 2 nights in a row for more than 45 minutes at midnight. the night guy from the next hotel came to help us out, i will definitely come back as it is great value for money.

Hotel was very nice, although it did appear to be a bit 'tired' in places and could do with a bit of a refurbishment. The breakfasts and evening meals were very nice.

Gave us food poisoning!!!!

AVOID!! This hotel gave my partner and I severe food poisoning. Today is the sixth day and we are both still suffering. We’ve had to take time off work and have struggled to look after our children. The hotel dont seem to be concerned at all, they have offered us nothing! I am going to take this opportunity to mention other issues with the hotel. Staffing was a problem, they never had enough staff, frequently one person was manning reception and the bar, so customers were always waiting. The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, even in the restaurant there was part of the wall coming away from being mouldy. The outdoor pool looked disgusting half full of stagnant water. Car parking was also an issue, not enough spaces! I would advise you not to waste your money going to this hotel.
