Beautiful hotel but !
8.0Beautiful hotel but would not give it 5*. The hotel staff are wonderful each and everyone of them go beyond to help with any issues that you may have. Unfortunately for us there we a lot of small children at the hotel when we were there and were quite noisy as children are and the pool area is quite compact. We were surprised as we thought it would be more of an adult only hotel. But that doesn't detract from the beauty of the hotel. We had a super room that was spotlessly cleaned every day. I would say that the towels and dressing gowns need to be updated, they are very tired and hard on the skin. There are no luxuries in the room to speak of and only one small bottle of water provided on arrival after that you had to buy your own which we would expect to be replaced each day. Again unfortunately for us there was no atmosphere in the hotel of a night time, the bar was always empty and the restaurant had a very limited menu. Breakfast was substantial and very nice although coffee from a machine was not the best. The location of the hotel is super good for the marina and the town only a short walk to either. Would I stay again, unfortunately not.
Do as I say and not as I do
6.0Beautiful looking hotel and super location . However a few things to point out if you have kids ! You probably have more fun in a prison pool than here at this hotel ! So many do not do’s for the kids makes it zero fun for them . Zero atmosphere around the pool with no music or activities in the day ! And the biggest one is a rule they fail to enforce - reserving sun loungers ! A very selfish family group of 16 were staying at the hotel and by 7am reserved all the best spots ! Even though breakfast didn’t start till 8am and the pool didn’t open till 10am ! Nothing left by 8:30 am so spent most of the holiday down the beaches which was fantastic but you should be entitled to a sun lounger ! The hotel really needs to make its mind up as it wants to advertise as a family hotel but felt very much and adults only and failed to enforce the reservation rule for other guests ! Would not stay here again .
Fantastic hotel
10.0Great location
− Could do With more sun beds in The sun
An honest, balanced review
8.0We had a lovely stay overall and I’d say this is a very good 4-star hotel. There are so many things the hotel gets right, but with a few improvements it could genuinely feel like a 5-star experience. The biggest positive was the staff. Every member of the team was warm, welcoming and genuinely helpful, and they really made our stay. The only exception was the pool attendant, who unfortunately came across as having quite an attitude, which felt out of keeping with the rest of the hotel’s excellent service. One of our favourite things was how peaceful the pool area was. There was no constant music playing, which made it incredibly relaxing. On one day there was a DJ playing chilled lounge music for a couple of hours, and on another day there was a saxophonist playing similar music, but otherwise it was wonderfully quiet – a real oasis away from the bustle of Cala d’Or. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was exceptional. Both the communal areas and our room were absolutely spotless every day. The sun loungers were also very well spaced, so you never felt like you were on top of other guests, which made the pool area feel much more luxurious and relaxing. Where the hotel really falls short is the food, particularly for half-board guests. Everything we ate at dinner was tasty and clearly made with good-quality ingredients, but the lack of variety became a real issue. Each evening there was just one included meat option (which was pork around 90% of the time), one fish option and one vegetarian option. There were also beef and sea bass available every night, but these required a supplement despite only costing a few euros more than the included dishes. By the end of the week I actually ordered from the children’s menu because none of the main course options appealed. The starter choices were also repetitive, usually consisting of a soup, a salad and one other option. In other hotels we’ve stayed in, soup and salad are available from a buffet every evening alongside three different starter choices, and something similar here would make a huge difference. Breakfast was probably the most disappointing meal. It was very repetitive with limited choice. Hot drinks came from a self-service machine rather than being served at the table, and drinking water was dispensed from an office-style water fountain, neither of which felt particularly luxurious. The only live cooking station was omelettes every morning. While pancakes were available, they were always cold. It would be fantastic to see more variety, perhaps rotating between omelettes, waffles and crêpes, or even offering a few cooked-to-order à la carte options such as Eggs Benedict or blueberry pancakes. Another small detail that was missing was complimentary bottled water in the room. For a hotel positioning itself as a luxury property, providing fresh bottled water each day is something we’d expect as standard and would add to the overall guest experience. On a positive note, lunch at the pool bar was very good. The menu offered more choice and variety than the half-board dinner menu, and everything we ordered was fresh, well presented and tasty. As for Cala d’Or itself, we realised it’s probably just not our kind of destination. The beaches are undeniably beautiful, but they are incredibly busy, making them difficult to fully enjoy. The town centre felt very commercialised, with bars, restaurants and loud music everywhere, so it lacked the authentic atmosphere we usually look for. That said, the marina is absolutely lovely and well worth a visit. Overall, we’d happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing, immaculately clean base with fantastic staff. If the hotel expanded and refreshed its food offering, improved a few of the luxury touches, and added complimentary bottled water to the rooms, it would be very close to delivering a true 5-star experience.
Fantastic Hotel That Needs to Address Sunbed Reservations
6.0The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and the staff are incredibly friendly. However, we would not book it again because nothing is done to prevent guests from reserving sunbeds at the pool. We paid €1,600 for four nights, yet on two days we couldn't get a spot by the pool. The pool doesn't even open until 10:00 a.m., and there is staff present there all day. Still, every morning the sunbeds were already "reserved," while many of the people who claimed them didn't actually show up until after lunch. It's a real shame because this is such a beautiful hotel. We noticed that many other guests were also extremely frustrated by this. We really hope the hotel will start enforcing its no-reserving policy, as it significantly affects the overall guest experience.
