Definitely not good

4.0

I had a highly unpleasant experience here and I’m wondering if anyone knows who owns this place and how I might get in touch with them? In fact I’ve hesitated to even write a review, but I feel like the owners should know. The issue was not solely with the rooms. But regarding the rooms, the were in major need of repair and not clean. Stains on bedding, towels and pillows, broken shower head, closet rod collapsed with just 2 lightweight items hung and filthy mattress. Furniture in the lobby was also filthy. Not at all surprised to see it’s now closed for renovation. This should have happened before now. I’m amazed it was still open when I stayed. A local business owner told me it had “gone downhill” I just wish I’d known this before booking.

A beautiful hotel from the old days in totall decay. Slowly everything becomes green even the pool. No matresses on the poolbeds. Everything desolated. Broken stuff is not repaired and paint vanishes. The room was spacious but the broken toilet flush and noisy airco disturbed our night. We intended to stay 3 nights but run out after 1. Very dissapointing after seeing the misleading webpage and reading stories of the hotel from long ago. The price is a rip off. Don't go there!

Disappointing hotel, but with beautiful views.

4.0

The hotel is situated on a slope of a mountain. Offering beautiful views on the lush green island and sea. The hotel looks pittoresk and has an old Italian/ English feel to it. I understand why it was one of the best hotels on the island in its glory days. Unfortunately, the hotel isn't in its glory days anymore. Our room and the hotel grounds are worn down. Our room and the bed were not clean. There is no air-conditioning. Due to its beautiful location, the hotel is isolated and far from restaurants. In the evening, taxis don't want to drive to the hotel. So going out for dinner is a problem without a car. When we were there, we were the only guests. The staff went out during the day, meaning that there were no food or drinks available. There were no cushions or towels at the pool or outside the outside seating area. The poolwater looked greased and not clean. The staff is friendly, helpful and is really trying to run the hotel as good as possible. But there are a lot of things that need to be improved. When we arrived, the staff didn't expect us. We were lucky that they were still at the hotel and not gone home for the day. On the Internet, the hotel advertised that they have dining options. We travelled all day and expected we could dine at the hotel. Unfortunately they didn't want to cook because they were tired. Instead, they offered us a ride to a restaurant. Telling us that getting a taxi back wouldn't be a problem, or one off the staff would make sure we would get back. Apparently, taxis don't drive to the hotel after 8 pm, and they didn't answer their phone. It was a hassle to get back. When we wanted to go to bed, the blanket and sheet were covered with little black things and the fitting sheet had yellow stains. The breakfast was lovely. We wanted to have a island tour or taxi to take us to the village so we could rent a car. The staff tried there best to get us a taxi. Since non was available and they were going to the village, they offered us a ride. This is what we mean by the staff is friendly and helpful. But that the staff didn't expect us, didn't want to cook and rive us twice to the village, made us feel like a burden to them. For us, the isolated location, poor dining and drinking options, being the only guests and the room/ bed/ pool not being clean, made us decide to check out after our first night. The hotel has a lot of potential but is not up to standard, misses food/ beverage options and is not clean at this moment. The price is the highest of all hotels on Saba, but doesn't deliver what would be expected for that price or what is advertised. We hope that the hotel someday will return to the beauty and fibrant hotel, as in its glory days. For now, lots of improvements need to be made to be a good hotel.

The view from te hotel is beautiful and the hotel grounds have an Italian feeling to it. The room we had was very spacious, like a small house but without a kitchen. Down site of the hotel is that it's worn down, furniture is old and our room/ bed was dirty. The hotel had a low occupation while we were there, i think we were the only guests. So the facilities like the bar or restaurant are not open. The hotel is isolated so you need a taxi or car to go anywhere. Taxis won't run to the hotel after 8 pm, making dining out difficult. When we arrived at the hotel they didn't expect us. Since we were travelling all day, we were hungry. There were no dining options at the hotel. The hotel gave us a ride to town to have dinner and said the restaurant was able to arrange a taxi back to the hotel. After dinner we found oufounat taxis don't go all the way to this hotel after 8 pm and it was a hassle to get back. When we went to bed the bed cover and sheets were covered with little black things and the fitting sheet had yellow stains. In the morning we had a modest but nice breakfast. The pool was not clear/ dirty and there were no towels or cushions on beds or seats. The bar and restaurant were closed and the hotel staff was out, as they were at night. Taxis are hard to get at this isolated area. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel is not clean and in bad condition. We left after the first night to a different hotel. The online pictures of the rooms don't match reality

Serious revamp needed, last month.....

6.0

Need to revamp, very overrun, it is a very beautiful property if run properly, or lat least cleaned and maintained properly. The pool and the pool area is a disaster, looks unhygienic, outdoor public area need a serious paint job, the tropical garden needs an gardener to prune and dead leaves all taken away, there are more mosquitoes than they should be. Could have been with an old world Caribbean charm , but not like this.
