Beautiful historic stay next to St. Peter's, but skip the hotel car service
9.0I was very happy with my stay at Palazzo Cardinal Cesi. The hotel is set in a stunning, historic 15th-century building with a beautiful atmosphere. The location is truly unbeatable; you are literally right next to St. Peter’s Square. While my room was on the smaller side, it was comfortable. The beds were great, and most importantly, the room's climate control was excellent. The breakfast was standard for my experiences with similar hotels and perfectly fine to start the day.
− My only significant complaint is regarding the exorbitant cost of the concierge transfer service. I paid €140 for a van that turned out to be an older model with very poor air conditioning. I had to explicitly ask the driver to turn the A/C on, and even then, it was sweltering. Enjoy the beautiful rooms and perfect location, but do not book the hotel's transfer service. You are much better off getting a regular city cab. They are easy to find, likely half the cost, and standard taxis generally have much better air conditioning than the expensive van I was provided.
