Staff was nice but the only reason we booked the hotel was for the pool but it was closed which was very upsetting especially after was excited to relax in the pool after a long drive

We won't stay here again.

We felt safe enough.

− No coffee available Sunday morning. Hotel room had high humidity, causing everything to feel slightly damp. Bad odor to building, like old spilled beer. The parts of the complex we saw need updating - paint, new wall paper etc.

I'd feel safer staying at the Bates Motel.

Demolition. That's the only future for this once preferred hotel in the charming town of Brookings. There are now a dozen alternatives, all clean, modern, budget-conscious, in the immediate area. This is far worse than "worn." We were in two different rooms. Lamps with no switches (broken off and not replaced), stains and damage everywhere - bathroom sink, walls, doors. No security - fire doors that don't close and are missing the hardware to close. Safety latches on room doors that are loose and ineffective. Deadbolts to adjoining rooms that don't latch. Rooms are dingy and dark. There were only 7 or 8 guests, out of 119 rooms, and they had trouble finding us an alternative to the first. The second floor, which is a little brighter, has only stairs and no elevator for access. There is nothing to recommend this hotel other than the friendly reception staff.

Always love the continental breakfast. Rooms are clean. Staff is friendly.

− Splash pad was closed and we stayed there for the pool. Very disappointed that they haven't had it available for a long time and we booked in advance because it was supposed to be fixed by the time we stayed there.
