− Food/ breakfast
I enjoyed this hotel, and would definitely come back
9.0Pretty location and comfortable. Delicious breakfast
I am very disappointed.
6.0The hilly location of the hotel.
− We arrived on Friday and checked in. I upgraded my room to suite and paid $60 extra. Unfortunately, there was a storm in the mid-afternoon and the electricity went out. It was very tough because it was the first week of July, and it was extremely hot (32-35°C and very humid (weather forecast from Jul 1-5 is available online). We were told the electricity would be back on at 8:30 PM, but it wasn't. We went out for dinner, my husband and I came back to the hotel a bit late and found out that the electricity still wasn't back on. It was late, so we decided to stay because the woman at the check-in counter said power would be restored in the AM. The hotel window couldn't be opened (old building structure). It was a warm night. The next morning, I asked if there was any breakfast (which was included in my booking), and they said there was no breakfast. We were told that hopefully, the electricity would be back on that day. My husband and I went out early and stayed out until past 10:00 PM to attend the America 250 fireworks at the Highland Park. Going out from the park after the fireworks was slow, we arrived back at the hotel very late, and there was still no electricity. The hotel was uninhabitable at that night, it was very, very warm. We were advised that it was up to us whether we stayed or not. I noticed we were the only guests left. I had to scramble and find an available hotel room before midnight. The two staff members told us, "No worries, we will refund you if you don't stay here." I was too exhausted for a debate; my brain just said, "Get out of there." Thank goodness my husband brought a tiny flashlight, which I used to go to Suite 3116 and pack everything from the living room, bedroom, and bathroom. I was completely soaked with my own sweat, i was dizzy when we left the hotel. It’s interesting that the hotel has no generator just enough to provide emergency lights through hotel aisles. I am still waiting for the refund.
Great,
10.0Beautiful views, we were able to hike right behind the property they gave you a map. The older gentleman that was doing breakfast was so sweet and kind, he made sure we were taken care of. Great hospitality from all staff.
− There wasn’t much to not like! It’s a little outdated decor/room wise, but wouldn’t deter us from ever staying again.
You have to like an antique-type hotel to appreciate.
7.0It's a lovely site, with nice hiking trails.
− It is run down. I believe it was built in the 60's. The gym is pathetic.
