Driving out of KL and on the way to Penang is this fabulous deep in the jungle but also beachside hotel - something of a tropical paradise Surrounded by wildlife it’s certainly a tranquil place to spend a week or two. Bedroom overlooked the sea / Straits of Malacca overlooking Pankor island. Framed by the beautiful and extremely well maintained garden areas that included palm and original trees that have been well managed. Reading books or listening to music around the pool and outside garden areas watching sea eagles glide and swoop occasionally into the sea was a marvellous experience A very special thank you to Gerald Hilton Operations Manager who welcomed us enthusiastically on what was our return visit such was our previous experience The executive lounge has to be one of the very best lounges within the Hilton group , firstly for its service delivery to all guests and secondly due to it’s magnificent views overlooking the pool, gardens and Pankor island. However , the team makes this exceptionally special led by Veronica with very attentive service from Zhee, Sophia and Parves. Breakfast in Makaam restaurant overseen by Chef Saleem was also very special with breakfast tables both inside and outside Dietary needs were very well managed by Chef Saleem and team Overall, an exceptional and very comfortable stay

I've visited and stayed at Damai Laut for nearly 15 years and unfortunately this might be the trip that stops me going. We stayed one night on a Friday and we were moved rooms twice due to issues. Upon check in we could sense that the hotel was very busy with those on a "stay cation". When we arrived at our room they were doing maintenance in the room next door which at first didn't appear to be an issue but upon returning from the pool they had painted the door which connected the two rooms and the paint smell was incredibly strong so we requested to move. We were moved from the 4th to 1st floor and therefore our paid for "sea view" was removed so we asked to be moved once more and we were "upgraded" to a family room which was at the other side of the hotel with a limited sea view and at the end of a very long corridor. In the final room the bed was very nice but the air conditioning was poor and never really cooled the room down and we were kept up quite late by a late which we couldn't switch off in the bathroom. At 2am when we were simply exhausted we tried every single switch in the room for it to be that every light switch had to be down and the master switch turned off. We didn't stay for breakfast because in our previous stay the hotel cannot control the amount of flies around the food even with fans and covers so we chose to leave early and head to KL. This hotel is marketed as 5* and it simply isn't anymore, when we were by the pool which had incredibly loud "party" music playing the only drinks we could order were coffees, heavily sugary drinks or alcohol. The app used also told us it was a 60+ minute wait for drinks. They had 3 food options all RM40+ and all western orientated. I remember when SwissGarden used to be very well known for their Chicken Satay! The unfortunate treatment we got when we had to request to move rooms, twice, which was treated as an inconvenience. This location seems to rely on the fact that it is the only fairly "decent" hotel within the area but i'd rather spend a bit more and head to Pangkor Laut.

This one classy resort. It's well maintained - within the resort and its surroundings. My room is big and best of all, well lit. It's bright enough for me to some serious work. My impression of the room was that it was neat, tidy and clean - everyday. The Makan Restaurant is the main restuarant where I had my breakfast and dinner. The breakfast buffet spread is commendable. The croissants are superb, and best of all is the nasi lemak and the roti canai which goes so well with the curry chicken. Dinner for me was the nasi goreng. It came with 2 big prawns and a piece of fried chicken. In summary, I was surprised by the quality of the food. It was good. Checking in was smooth and efficient. A pleasant was the welcome cookies - 2 pieces warm and fragrant pieces. This was better than the usual welcome drink. Checking out was also hassle free. Do take note of the location of the resort. It's next to the sea. The beach is clean and the water, clear, with gentle waves. This means that you just can't walk down the road for a snack or to the 7 Eleven store. The nearest one is about an hour's drive away. But then, with all the creature comforts that the resort offers, you don't need to go any where else. Kudos to the staff for an amazing stay. They greeted me, chatted with me, and made me feel at home.

Will I be there again? Yes. Wonderful location and very nice spacious and clean rooms. HOEVER: it is quite far from downtown (30 min.) and the hotel does not provide shuttle buses. The common areas (corridors, elevators and even the doors of the rooms) need radical restyling/refurbishing. The restaurant is full of flies that "attack" customers even if the hotel is really trying all it can to eliminate them. Personnel is very kind but needs a loto of training. Anyhow a very good stay, well above avarege of hotels you find in Lumut area.

Amazing stay at the resort. Booked executive room with lounge access. The lounge is amazing with free flow from 5pm to 7pm. Very attentive staff namely Zhi yi, Parvez and Hidayah. They make my day.
