Cocktails at the lounge…Worst cocktails ever!
8.0Great location, staff is nice and rooms are clean. The bed is very comfortable. It has a small kitchenette with basics. Keurig, nice shower. The bar lounge has a great view but the drinks are horrible. Prepared cocktails are a joke. Terrible! Stay with beer or pre-made. Food at the restaurant is just ok. American cheap fare.
Beautiful lodge and views on the water
10.0A special setting on the water to watch the wildlife and the boats. Lovely spacious room and comfortable beds with a balcony overlooking the water. Nice dinner on the patio of the restaurant. Friendly staff.
Exceptional Hospitality & A Wonderful Stay!
10.0From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Everyone was friendly, professional, and went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it easy to relax and enjoy our stay. The outstanding hospitality really made this trip memorable. We had a fantastic time and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. We’re already looking forward to our next visit to Painters!
Unique hotel beautiful setting. Slightly on in years but very charming.
8.0I stayed solo at Painters lodge on the way to a retreat at Cortes island for one night then my husband and I stayed there again a few days later for two nights. The reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is I wish their website warned that there are no elevators and their rooms are on second floor. Upon the first stay the nice man at the desk helped me with my bag, on second stay I asked for help the young lady said “we do not offer that service”. I am slightly disabled and a nice young man (fellow traveler) in the lobby helped me lug my suit case up the stairs. Other than that it was a perfectly nice stay the hotel has seen better days a bit worn on the edges, but so charming. Superbly heated pool to rest wearily bones after travel but sadly defunct empty hot tubs sitting there. Would have been nice. The ocean view rooms where I stayed on both stays have gorgeous views of the water and snow capped mountains beyond. You can spend afternoons sitting on the deck and taking in the view of bald eagles flying overhead as fishing boats, ferries and cruise ships go by. For what I paid, a continental breakfast or complementary coffee would have been nice but I can’t have everything. The in-room coffee was actually pretty good. I would definitely stay here again!
A lovely work in progress
8.0My husband and I recently stayed at Painters Lodge for 2 nights. We had amazing weather during our stay which added to our experience. The resort is in a bit of a transition. They are renovating and updating the rooms. The grounds still need a lot of work; they are overgrown and unkempt, but they are working on that. We had a lower level standard 2 queen bed room right on the ocean (despite asking for an upper level). The room was lovely, spacious and new. There are a few things missing. There are not enough mirrors (only one over the sink), I couldn't get the hair dryer to work, the shower door was so tight we almost couldn't use it. But the beds and bedding are new and very comfortable. The Keurig was appreciated. We only had one wine glass for some reason. The bar fridge is old and should be replaced. We sat on the dock in the evening with a drink and watched the seals and cruise ships and it was incredible. The spot is beautiful. It is 5 minutes out of town so you have to drive to everything. Elk Falls and Suspension bridge was so pretty and an easy hike. Watch your bill at Happy Hour. Despite advertising $5 beer, wine and hiballs, we were charged $6 for a beer and $9 for a hiball because apparently "all of their hiballs are doubles" and they charge $4 for the extra shot--we weren't told this when ordering and didn't need a double. Not a big deal but also not a good way to do business. Overall, we had an amazing time and look forward to returning when the resort is brought back to it's glory.
Would not recommend
4.0Disappointing. Rooms ok But lacking basic amenities such as hairdryer, bedside light, do not disturb sign. Cleaners leave rubbish bags outside room all day. No restaurant, only deep fried low quality food. Place looks run down. Bad music piped in public places is not relaxing.
