5.0If you're looking for a lively party hotel, Haven may be a great choice. If you're visiting Medellín to explore the city and its surroundings and value peace and quiet, I would recommend staying elsewhere. I spent four nights at the hotel and, because my reservation was non-refundable, I couldn't change hotels after realizing the atmosphere wasn't what I expected. Despite the attractive rooftop pool and restaurant, I wasn't able to use the pool even once because it was occupied by parties every afternoon and evening. Although I was assigned one of the quieter rooms, I still had to sleep with my earbuds in every night to block out the noise. I do want to recognize the excellent service provided by the two receptionists, Katalina and Juliana. They were kind, attentive, and regularly checked in to make sure I was comfortable. They even arranged for me to have breakfast before my early morning tours, which I greatly appreciated. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel automatically adds a 10% service charge to bills. When I asked about it, I was informed that it was optional and it was removed without any issue. For travelers who want nightlife and a social atmosphere, Haven may be exactly what they're looking for. For those who want a relaxing base from which to explore Medellín, I would choose a different hotel.
