This place was an absolute treat and we’re so glad we stayed two nights. We absolutely love monkeys and adored seeing them on our balcony. The food was excellent and the staff were exceptional. We absolutely love the room and the privacy on the balcony.

− The bar situation doesn’t quite work. There is only one bar in the whole resort which no one seems to attend. It should be in that front section near the pool where the welcome drinks are. The feng shui with the bar is not good and it should be closer to the pool, not stuck in the back. I know there’s a small pop up bar at the pool but it actually could be expanded into a little hut with some barstools. I don’t think they understand how much money they’re losing with Western tourists, as a few of us discussed this.

We had a wonderful stay at the Heritance Kandalama, from the moment we arrived it felt very special. The hotel is magnificent, both from a location perspectives as well as an architectural one. We booked a Deluxe room for two, which had a beautiful view out over the reservoir and towards Sigiriya Rock. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, as well as a Jacuzzi bath. We ate at the Hotel most days, with an indulgent breakfast buffet in the morning (included in our room charge) and an extensive dinner buffet in the evenings - the food and service on both buffets was excellent and the choice also extensive. In addition, one of our travelling companions had dietary restrictions (no glutton or dairy) and the chef and kitchen staff were extremely attentive to providing advice around the dishes as well as alternatives. The facilities at the hotel were great, with 3 x pools to choose from and spacious lounging and viewing areas to relax in. We also did an elephant safari via the hesitance which was a wonderful experience. They organised everything from pickup, the actual safari and the drop off, we saw many elephants in the wild - a truely worthwhile experience. Thank you to the Heritance and all its staff - we will be back.

− One note regarding our room, the shower is incorporated within the jacuzzi - if you are older or a little shaky on your feet, just be careful - getting in and out of the shower was a little challenging - there are handles to assist but it was still a little difficult.

Alles, het was echt prachtig. Wat een fantastische locatie! De ligging, de dieren, de zwembaden, het eten en het personeel. Top!

− De kamers waren in verhouding wat minder spectaculair dan de rest, maar wel schoon en comfortabel. Enige nadeel was dat je dat het eten bij het buffet enorm naar eten stinkt.

We had an exceptional stay at Heritance Kandalama. The hotel’s unique design and stunning setting make it a truly special place. The service was attentive throughout our stay, and the food was excellent. A special thank you to Chef Shanmu, who went above and beyond to organise special meals to accommodate my wife’s restricted diet. His care and attention made a real difference and were greatly appreciated. We highly recommend Heritance Kandalama and would happily stay again.
