A great resort where you’re treated like family!
10.0Room was awesome so was food, pool, service, and nature! Do the horseback riding!!!! Butterfly sanctuary is a must! Lots of animals!
Chaa Creek is spectacular.
10.0Deron was the highlight of a spectacular trip although everyone who works around Chaa Creek is incredibly friendly, kind and accommodating. We did ziplining and cave tubing and it was perfect, we also did the RTV tour which was so fun and exciting for all of us. The open hearth kitchen experience was really worth it, and one of the best meals we had. We made shrimp ceviche, chicken and rice and beans and it was a gourmet meal. Chaa Creek did not disappoint in ANY way. Be aware that some of the rooms have open bathrooms and showers with no doors. Our teenagers sharing a room were NOT amused but figured it out.
**Beautiful Grounds and Amazing Tours, but a Few Things to Know**
10.0We recently stayed at **Chaa Creek** in the **Spa Villa** and had a memorable experience overall, though there are some logistical details future travelers should keep in mind. **The Villa & Accommodations** The Spa Villa itself was lovely. The beds were very comfortable and the water pressure was excellent. A huge plus was that each room had its own self-controlled A/C unit, so everyone could set their preferred temperature. **Note:** There are quite a few steps to get up to this villa, so be prepared for a bit of a climb! **Dining: The Highs and Lows** Breakfast was included and offered a fantastic variety of choices to start the day. We arrived on a Sunday, and the à la carte lunch and dinner menus were excellent with plenty of options. However, we were a bit disappointed with the weekday dinner setup. During the week, they transition to a set four-course meal ($37 USD for the main course alone). There were only three options to choose from, which felt very limited for the price. **Pro Tip:** If you have your own transportation, I highly recommend heading into town for dinner. You’ll find many more options and get significantly more food for much less money. That said, do save room for dessert at the lodge—every one we tried was delicious! **Transportation & Logistics** We used Chaa Creek for our airport transfers (about a 2-hour drive each way). Our driver on arrival, **Justin**, was wonderful—very friendly and shared great information about Belizean history and culture as we drove. The only downside was that the A/C in the initial van *from* the airport *to* the lodge was quite weak, making the long drive a bit warm. **However, for our transport back to Belize City at the end of the trip, they sent a much better van with excellent A/C.** **ATM Cave Tour** If you do one thing here, make it the **ATM Cave tour**. We went through the lodge and our guide, **Alexia**, was incredible. It is an absolutely amazing experience. My best advice: **Get there early!** Beating the crowds makes a huge difference in the atmosphere of the cave. Overall, it’s a beautiful property with top-tier tours, just be mindful of the dining structure and the initial transport A/C!
Great family trip spot
10.0We went here with our son and daughter in law and granddaughters. We had taken our kids here when they were little 30 years ago and fondly remember our adventures there. It is waaaay more modernized than it was then but still fantastic. Extremely well run- every staff member- reception, servers, guides, gardeners - were very friendly and helpful. Tours/ excursions were great for the girls (5 and 7) and for us as well. Don’t miss the canoe trip into the cave The food was also very good. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Great week!
Eco-Tourism Refined
10.0This was our first “eco-tourism” resort stay and we were not disappointed. Accommodations were very good. We stayed in a spacious, well appointed cottage near to the pool, bar and restaurant. Everything was comfortable including bed, linens, large double shower and an outdoor shower. The restaurant was vey good with a large menu that did not bore us on our four day visit. The Valentines Day, 6 course menu was the least inspiring. The bar staff prepare beverages that include their own infusions. The “by the glass” wines could have been better as their house wines are from a Chilean Vineyard that was not wonderful. Staff are friendly and attentive, though several did not understand the limitations of my wife’s gluten free diet. Excursion staff were excellent including David on the canoe trek and Walter for the sunset RTV tour. We also did a horseback tour on property and trekked to the Tikal Mayan ruins with Yumi…. All memorable. The grounds, pool and facilities are beautiful and well maintained. Would definitely return.
A beautiful and relaxing retreat in Belize
10.0We just came back from a wonderful 3 day stay at Chaa Creek. We very much enjoyed our time at the resort, waking up each morning with singing birds, spotting howler monkey families on our morning walk, visiting the butterfly farm and the nature center, exploring various trails on the property and tasting some fresh and delicious food at the resort's resturant. All staff are super friendly and helpful. Our side trip to visit the Maya ruin "Xunantunich" with Kevlin, a very knowledgeable and friendly guide provided by the resort was memorable and fun.
