Cancelled my room despite confirming I’d be there a day later

Not At All the Quality They Market - Skip This One
2.0This is a hotel that leverages marketing to position itself as something it’s not when it comes to being a high-end quality hotel. When I checked into my room, there were strands of hair on the table under the TV. The bath towels were stained and frayed at the bottom, and the washcloths were stained. The rooms are described as art deco, but the furniture, pillows, bathroom all appear very cheap. Felt like an imposter hotel of what you might expect from their photos and website. Upon seeing all this after I had checked in, I went downstairs and canceled my reservation. I will say the front desk manager was very nice, apologetic and helpful, but after all that I did not want another room that was offered. I left and don’t recommend this hotel as a landing spot in SD.
Awful, Pubic hair on pillow during check in!
2.0Awful experience. Don’t stay here! First off before you even pull up there is a shanty town of homeless people shooting uo drugs. Literally drove past someone pulling their pants down and shooting up, outside an Andaz. Secondly I showed up with my globalist status and was not given a suite upgrade. Typically I tip the front desk person and you get a nice little upgrade. When there are no upgrades available they give the tip back. Not this time, took The money, gave no upgrade and just went about her business. First room we got into had a literal PUBIC hair on the pillow. Never in my life. We asked to switch rooms, the next room smelled so bad the women who helped us move rooms apologized to us. Third room was satisfactory. Then after a full day of exploring San Diego came back to the room. It had not been cleaned. No new towels. I easily spent 4 hours of my vacation talking to housekeeping, front desk, manager, executive of housekeeping. It was wild. Do not stay here, it is not luxury it is not an Andaz.
The Rooftop Was Reserved... So Was Our Disappointment
2.0This hotel seems to prioritize large events over the comfort and experience of its paying guests. If you're traveling with children or looking for a relaxing weekend getaway, I would recommend staying elsewhere. We stayed here over the Fourth of July weekend, and our experience was extremely disappointing. On the second day of our stay, we spoke with the front desk about the issues we were experiencing and asked if anything could be done to improve our stay. Unfortunately, no one followed up, and none of our concerns were addressed. I'm sharing this review so future guests know what to expect. When we booked our stay online, there was no disclosure that the entire rooftop—including the pool—would be occupied by a private Fourth of July event. We were only informed at check-in, and it was presented as if it were no big deal. We were also told that hotel guests could not reserve cabanas or poolside tables and would instead have to share the pool area with attendees who were not hotel guests. Beginning around 2:00–3:00 p.m. on July 4, the hotel played extremely loud music for the rooftop event. The bass was so intense that the windows and floor in our room were vibrating, making it impossible to relax or rest. The lobby was crowded with intoxicated partygoers, the elevators smelled strongly of alcohol and other unpleasant odors, and elevator wait times were excessively long because of the event. We also spoke with another guest staying on the fourth floor who confirmed that the music was clearly audible from his room as well. As mentioned, we asked the front desk if we could be moved to a lower-floor room to escape the noise. We were told the hotel was sold out, which we understood. However, there was no follow-up, no attempt to offer an alternative solution, and no gesture of goodwill or compensation for the significant disruption to our stay. We specifically chose Andaz San Diego because of our previous positive experiences with the Andaz brand, including excellent stays in Scottsdale and Seoul. Unfortunately, this property did not live up to those expectations. Beyond the event-related issues, the area surrounding the hotel had a noticeable homeless population, which further affected our overall experience. Most disappointing of all, it felt as though the hotel prioritized a private event and outside attendees over the comfort and satisfaction of its paying guests. Had the hotel clearly disclosed the rooftop closure and large private event before booking, we could have made an informed decision and chosen another property. Transparency and guest experience should come before maximizing event revenue.
Do Not Stay here!
2.0Room very small and parking is terrible as you have to park in a tiny garage about 2 blocks away. Best to park in other lots closer but overall experience is not to stay here with family if you have young kids. Homeless community is across the street nearby.
Great service, Great hospitality, great place to stay
