B&B with great details, amazing breakfast
8.0The Essex Inn is located on a beautiful, historic property. The small details and fantastic amenities--like a 24 hour "butler's pantry" stocked with coffee, tea, water, biscotti, popcorn, and more--really made the stay special. We are still talking about our breakfast of local eggs and bacon; warm, homemade apple spice cake; and poached pears with pecans grown right on the property. Amazing! Since we were traveling with pets, we stayed in one of the suites, which have an apartment feel. The main house seems to have rooms with more of a traditional B&B atmosphere. We are looking forward to staying again.

10.0What a gem!! This inn is on a quiet street in tappahannock that leads to the river. The innkeepers were welcoming and attentive. The inn is lovingly restored and I discovered that the owners host numerous community groups for fundraisers etc. the smoked salmon breakfast was awesome! I was here for work and so grateful I found this inn!!
