Very disappointing, definetly not a 5 star hotel

2.0

Nothing !

I wonder who rated this 5 star !!! Entrance way from carpark , shabby and carpets smelly and worn . Seems to be air fresheners everywhere to mask a stale smell . I had booked 2 rooms .. one was in the main house and the other in another building so the family were split ! We had an upgraded room Apparently .. Toilet roll holder hanging off the wall . Sealant around the sink hanging off . Room dark with very little overhead lighting . No air con but 2 cheap fans put in the room . Absolutely overpriced for this standard of hotel .. I’ve stayed in clean budget hotels and 5 star but never one like this no way should this be classed as a luxurious 5 star hotel ., If I could have found another hotel last night I wouldn’t have stayed here. I understand what is luxury to one person may not be to another but this hotel Is truly a 3 star at most !! A lovely couple of days celebrating was ruined by choosing to stay here ..I shall be more wary and look At different site reviews when booking again .

Lovely stay, Staff go above and beyond at every opportunity.

10.0

Great Location, close to the railway station and directly opposite Forbury gardens. Lovely rooms, clean and very comfortable. air conditioning was so welcome, whilst the thermostat topped 33 degrees outside, we stayed cool and comfortable. The staff are the best thing about The Roseate, all go above and beyond at any given opportunity. a special mention to the reception staff who were lovely and worked hard to accommodate us including our wish list for a future booking, and lastly but not least Martin, who even hopped in the car with us to direct us to the car park after we kept getting lost. One of our rooms was the House studio (we highly recommend if you'd like some more space) it boasts a lounge area and a kitchen diner, with range topping appliances, fridge freezer, oven hob. Although it had all sorts of pans and utensils etc. It did lack some other things that would have been really helpful, this is not a complaint, just some feedback for your consideration. We had wanted to warm up some bread and Camembert but there wasn't a baking tray or a board to cut the bread on, a cork screw and bottle opener would have been lovely and lastly, a dish cloth and soap to wipe the sides after use. Breakfast, buffet style had a great choice and was delicious. we ate in the secret garden. All in all, a really good stay.

Reception staff need training

6.0

Good location

I didn’t realise I’d booked a room in an annex behind the hotel which is accessed through the back of the hotel, down some stairs through the car park and into another building which was a modern build. I would have preferred a room in the main part of the hotel which i had booked for the traditional look and featured in all the photos. No one at the entrance to help bring my bag up the stairs (and there was no ramp). The staff member on reception could benefit from training. She was not welcoming or helpful. Staff at breakfast were very good though.

Brilliant massage

I am so relaxed today and slept so well last night. Please pass on my thanks to the massage therapist, Csenge. She was very welcoming and has a lovely calming presence. I've never felt so relaxed during a massage and I almost fell asleep which is a first 😴
