Great location, disappointing staff and room experience

It was close to everything we wanted to do in Blue Ridge.

− I have used Booking.com for YEARS. I almost always choose the option to pay at property once I arrive and present my card and ID. This was the first time I ever received a call THE DAY OF CHECK IN threatening to cancel my reservation because they already ran my card the night before. According to the staff member, they “need to know if I have the money before I get there.” I explained to her the option I chose, and she demanded that I give her a new card number over the phone or we would lose our room. I reiterated the policy again, and she said she wouldn’t touch the reservation “this time” and I could bring a new card when we arrived. My card was locked as it is every night. Funds were definitely available. Never in the years I’ve used this site has that happened! I unlocked the card in the car on the way in case she tried to run it again. I didn’t want us to be without accommodations on our anniversary weekend three hours from home. When we arrived (early) and it was my turn to check in, she remembered me and was less than polite. She ran my unlocked card and loudly announced it was declined. It in fact was not. I logged into my banking app to show her the transaction pending. She feigned some computer issue and called a manager to help. She assigned us a second floor room at the end of the hall right next to the ice machine after telling me there were no more first floor rooms. This was our ninth anniversary trip, and the noise from the machine and both floors disturbed us constantly both nights. It did not make for a restful trip at all. The second night it was loud enough that I called the front desk. A different attendant said she would check it out, and it did eventually stop for the night. Overall, I wish I had gone with a cabin or different accommodation. I don’t know if we will be back to this particular location. (just a note. I also witnessed her make a rude comment toward a different guest, but that is their story to tell)

Facilities were clean ans staff very sccompdating.

Convenient location- good breakfast

− Allowed dogs- there were many rooms with dogs

Very nice location and breakfast was good but that room was not that nice.

The property and staff was excellent

− The property was excellent and safe. It was the room. No tables, the bathroom was sparse and towels were thin. The room was very dark and no lights!! We literally had a flashlight at night.
