Peaceful, lovely surroundings, nice rooms, atmospheric restaurant/lounge area. Disappointing food.

− Disappointed with the menu and the actual food. For a restaurant with rooms, we were expecting more than "pan fried cod with chip shop curry, scraps" (what on earth are scraps??!). This also appeared on the tasting menu which we could not have since we both had to have it - but were not tempted anyway. Wine list extensive but slightly overpriced.
A really good hotel, with excellent food
9.0The hotel is in a lovely countryside location, the beds are very comfortable, the food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are some lovely walks from the hotel.
− There is a 3 mile drive down a single track road, which isn’t too bad until you meet a tractor,or three, as we did, and had to keep reversing back to a passing place. We found the drinks to be very expensive,the cheapest bottle of wine being £40.
Exceptional from start to finish
10.0Exceptional stay - the rooms were clean, tidy and cool (given the heatwave). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely exceptional. We will be back!

Dinner is served 7 nights a week from 6.00pm till 8.30pm. Tasting menu and A La Carte available Tuesday-Saturday. Sunday-Monday A La Carte only. Half board option includes 3 courses of The A La Carte Menu (upgrade to Tasting Menu is available at extra cost). The sitting room/bar closes the door at 11pm.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.
