Good Experience
10.0Stayed 2 nights & overall we were satisfied with our stay. The hotel did not have breakfast during our stay. The noise level from the street can be loud at night but it didn’t bother my sleep. However, if you are light sleeper and if your room faces the street you might not get a good night sleep. This hotel is walking distance to river street/pier area. There are a lot of restaurants, bar pubs, cafes & souvenir stores to choose from.
IHG Is Losing It's "Shine".
6.0Sadly, this was another in a long string of less-than-satisfactory IHG properties and visits. There ARE "positives", but let's look at the "negatives" first as they are perhaps the more serious. 1. Where's the "front door"? Well, after much walking around the block I finally found an employee who told me, "You have to go through the valet parking area.". What?!! There's NO signage that tells you that, nor did I see any instructions on the website. Where the "front door" SHOULD be is now 2 "side doors", locked, guest key access only, and the "real" entrance is now hidden inside a darkened valet parking area. Wow! 2. The website says "Onsite guest parking". Yep, valet ONLY, at $48 per day! The implication is that there is free guest parking. The reality is that, "Due to too many guests being reckless, liability insurance got out of hand, so we had to switch to valet parking.". Well, SAY SO on your website! There IS some VERY limited on-street parking, enough for about 12 cars, if you time it right. BEWARE! Do NOT park in any other area as you are VERY likely to be towed away without warning, and at a VERY high fee! 3. This property sits on the edge of a very sketchy area of town, and there are frequently folks wandering around late at night doing odd things. 4. There is no longer a free breakfast. Oops, forgot to mention that on the website, too! 5. Apparently the property is being "extensively renovated, and we currently only have about 20 rooms available, and the one you reserved is currently being renovated, so we'll find another room for you'. Funny, but I never saw or heard ANY sign of renovation work being done anywhere in or around the hotel. No vehicles, no workers, no sounds...nothing. 6. Housekeeping does a fair job of restocking the room and removing used linens. The never did pick up a used washcloth, so that I ended up with 6 in my room, and at one point finally had to ask the front desk to have them restock the K-cups. They WERE good at making the bed and emptying the trash. 7. The "refrigerator-freezer" does NOT work well. I depend on frozen water bottles each day, and could never get anything to freeze. Cold, but never close to frozen...although there was ice all over the non-closed "freezer" section. So let's move on to the "Positives": 1. The bed and pillows were comfortable. 2. The TV worked, although the process of moving from one station to another was awkward. 3. The AC did a very good job! 4. The hot water was HOT! 5. The toilet worked well. 6. They do have a Keuriq machine with a small variety of choices in the room. 7. It was relatively quiet throughout the property during the 5 days I was there. 8. I did get one message asking how my stay was going, early on the 2nd day. Never was asked again until I checked out. 9. There is free 24/7 coffee in the lobby. All said, I wouldn't stay here again.
Great Staff, Great Beds, Very nice and professional!
10.0We were greeted by Randy in valet parking. He took great care of us parking and retrieving our car. Very professional helpful and kind young man. Check in was easy again professional and helpful. Our room was nice and the beds are so comfortable. Then we ordered appetizers at the bar and the man working there was nice and very accommodating as well.
