Nice room, questionable neighborhood

6.0

I stayed at the Four Seasons St Louis for two nights in June 2026. The hotel has the usual Four Seasons army of people opening doors and trying to handle your luggage for you. It was exceedingly hot on the day I arrived and the valets were also pushing cold wet towels on the guests waiting to check in (though I didn't see anyone actually take one). A shame one of the valets couldn't run the front desk as a queue formed while the solo person on duty handled arriving guests. The ground floor lobby is home to the check in desk and concierge and way too much air freshener/fragrance but little else. Elevators take you up to the other common floors (6/7/8) where the meeting rooms and amenities are located and where you transfer to a different elevator bank to access the rooms. I was upgrade to a suite with a separate living room area and half bath along with a full bedroom, walk in closet and massive bathroom as well as a view of the Gateway Arch. The room was clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable and I appreciated the L'occitane bathroom products. The hotel is bound on the east side by the Mississippi River, on the west by an elevated freeway, on the north by vacant overgrown lots and on the south by a casino. Aside from the casino, there's really nothing in walking distance so if you didn't drive yourself you can count on lots of Uber rides.

Not to Four Seasons Standards

6.0

I stayed at the Four Seasons St. Louis during my first visit to St. Louis while traveling from Boca Raton, Florida, to purchase a luxury vehicle. Given the Four Seasons brand and reputation, I expected a seamless five-star experience. Unfortunately, my stay fell short of those expectations. My journey began with a 6:00 AM flight from Boca Raton through Atlanta, arriving in St. Louis around 10:00 AM. I completed my business by noon and arrived at the hotel at approximately 12:30 PM, hoping to get some rest after a long day of travel. At check-in, I was informed that my room was not ready and that I would receive a text message when it became available. I waited patiently, but by 3:00 PM I had still not heard anything, so I called the front desk and was told the room was still not ready. Finally, at 3:30 PM, I went back to the front desk in person and was told that the room was, in fact, ready. What was disappointing is that this was a Monday, the hotel did not appear particularly busy, and I found it difficult to understand why it took over four hours to prepare a standard guest room. While I understand that early check-in cannot always be guaranteed, I would have expected a luxury hotel to make a greater effort to accommodate a guest who had traveled a long distance and clearly needed a place to rest. The lack of communication regarding the room status was equally frustrating. The room itself was comfortable, with a good bed and a nice high-floor view, but it was fairly average in size and did not particularly stand out compared to other luxury properties. I also dined at Ramsay’s Kitchen in the hotel. While the food was good, the service was disappointing. After being seated, I had to wait and actively seek out a server to take my order. During the meal, I repeatedly had to ask for water and other basic service items. The staff seemed pleasant, but not particularly attentive or responsive, which is not what I expect from a restaurant associated with the Gordon Ramsay name or located within a Five-Star hotel. On a positive note, the valet attendant working outside the hotel when I checked out at 4:00 AM the following morning was outstanding. He quickly helped me locate my Uber, assisted with my luggage, and provided the kind of attentive service I had expected throughout my stay. Overall, the combination of the delayed room availability, poor communication, and underwhelming restaurant service left me disappointed. While there were some positive aspects, this experience did not meet the standards I associate with the Four Seasons brand. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

My wife and I enjoyed our 3-night date at the Four Seasons of St. Louis.

9.0

The receptionist, Mercy: very kind, professional, always smiling… Ramsey’s Kitchen on the premises… Dining on the terrace and inside… Terrace pool… Easy self-parking…

Only one thing: the music on the terrace was not my cup of tea, and a little too loud…

Is Four Seasons St. Louis really a five-star hotel?
