5* experience for our girls holiday
10.0We travelled here as a group of 8 for a girls holiday and a birthday celebration. Everybody at Hotel Eden was so welcoming and accommodating, but Michael and Maria really stood out. We never went without, and they really made the experience here stand out. Perfect location in the middle of Sorrento, only a 15 minute walk away from the Porto and plenty of shops and restaurants on the door step. Fantastic and unforgettable.
Disappointing stay – the basics were not met
2.0The hotel is in a great location, close to the main square, and there is a convenient shortcut at the side of the hotel which takes you directly through to the square. However, we only found out about this from another couple staying at the hotel, rather than being told by the hotel themselves. Unfortunately, the location was probably the only real positive of our stay. Our room was very small and had limited amenities. The fridge was warm, there was very little wardrobe space and, most noticeably, the entire room constantly smelled of sewage. We had to keep the plug holes covered whenever we left the room to try and prevent the smell from getting worse. The housekeeping was also very disappointing. Our towels were only changed twice during our week-long stay, despite us placing them in the bath on approximately three occasions to indicate that they needed changing. On one occasion, the towels were simply taken out of the bath and folded back up again. The bed linen was not changed at all during our stay, and the pillows were extremely hard. We were also only provided with one pillow each on a double bed. Breakfast was another disappointment. There was no fresh fruit and very little choice when it came to hot food. The pastries were nice, but the overall breakfast selection was so poor that we only ended up eating breakfast at the hotel around three times during our stay. The pool area was also very dirty and there were very few sun loungers available. We were told off for bringing drinks to the pool that had not been purchased from the hotel, so we bought two soft drinks from the hotel instead. Unfortunately, both drinks were flat and tasted as though they had been poured from large bottles. We also discovered from previous reviews that a large beer is served in a beer boot costing €20. Thankfully, my partner had read this in advance and therefore knew to avoid ordering it, as this charge was not something that was clearly communicated at the time of ordering. Overall, we found the atmosphere of the hotel quite intrusive, which made it difficult to fully relax during our stay. I am not usually someone who leaves reviews, but unfortunately our experience in Sorrento was genuinely tainted by our stay at this hotel. We appreciate that this is a 3-star hotel and were not expecting luxury, but we did expect reasonable standards of cleanliness, comfort and hospitality. Sadly, we felt that even these basic expectations were not met during our stay, and we would not return.
Nice hotel in a fantastic location.
8.0The hotel is generally clean & tidy with friendly staff. The room was spacious & it looked as though it had been recently refurbished. Bed was comfy & the air conditioning worked well. Note: There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We took a travel kettle but there are only two electrical sockets in the room. There is a good shower & towels were changed every other day. Breakfast was OK with options of hot or cold food. The pool area is nice enough for a relax or a quick dip but beware the sun lounger! If you put too much weight on the head end it collapses flat, this happened to four people whilst we were around the pool including myself & I trapped my finger. There is a ‘secret door’ which you have to find out about for yourself. If you come out of the hotel & turn left, go past the bar & take the last archway. There is a white metal gate which you can open with your room key. Walk along the corridor & press the red button on the door & it brings you out onto the main street. Watch out for the ‘large beer’ if you order one they will bring you a large boot which holds about 2 litres & costs 20 euros! Location is fantastic, less than 5 minutes from the centre.
Comfortable hotel in the heart of the city. Good value for money. It does not look a 3 star hotel. Definitely I go back
9.0In the heart of the city.
− The pool must close later
Good choice for staying close to the city center and harbour.
9.0Perfect location, nice room with comfortable bed and pillows.
− Breakfast could perhaps be a little bit better.
