Solid choice for north coast
8.0This was our first stay on the north coast after staying in the Lihue area two years ago at another Marriott Vacation Club (we are owners who trade for different places each year). Overall this is a nice place - seems well maintained and wasn’t overly crowded during our stay in late July, which is a good time weather-wise to visit. We were in building 4, which is best for people with mobility issues or who just want to be close to the lobby and the one covered parking structure. Knowing what I do now I would request building 5, which is closer to the pool and grills. Our place overlooked a private golf course and ocean beyond that; pretty, but I wouldn’t have chosen a golf view with golfers and groundskeepers right outside. The restaurant has limited hours and the convenience store is very small, so you’ll need to shop at Foodland a short drive away - too far to walk. The kitchen was not as good as some other places we’ve stayed in terms of furnishings, size and layout. Bed was comfortable and HVAC worked well. Good shower and large bathroom. I would recommend this place but in the future would probably stay closer to Lihue again where most of the activities and shopping are. It’s an hour’s drive away.
Bed bugs!
2.0We brought home bed bugs after staying at this location. Will never return
Beware what they don’t tell you!
2.0Look. Nice place, can view the ocean. But any place where the restaurant and any beach eatery shuts down at 7:30 pm and they DO NOT TELL YOU at check in that you’re out of luck for dinner is severally lacking in the humane department. Last year kitchen closed at 9. Now it’s 7:30 pm. Yes, before sundown. No knowledge, no heads up. You’re on your own here. They act as if we should just go with it.
Lovely resort! Guests get access at 1 Hotel's beach.
10.0Loved this place - peaceful, beautiful ocean and golf course views from our room in Building 4. Large villas, comfortable beds. Great meals at the onsite Nanea Restaurant, including a nice Mother's Day buffet. Pools and hot tubs were kept clean from the Nene's. Staff was friendly, although the concierge service was lacking... A few things I wish I would have known ahead of time: - Guests get day access at 1 Hotel's beach. We valet parked for free, had lunch at their restaurant then took the elevators down to the beautiful, quiet beach on the side of Hanalei Bay. - Rental chairs and umbrellas are available to rent at the Westin for exploring area beaches. That is much easier than driving to rent at Kapaa or Hanalei Bay -Wyillie's Beach (end of Anini) is accessible by a steep walk down from the Westin's parking lot, right before the entrance. It's a beautiful calm(er) beach with good snorkeling.
Best masseuse in Kauai
10.0Ellis gives the best Massage I’ve ever had. I give an eleven from 1-10.
This is a very basic time share resort.
6.0This was a very basic time share resort. No bellmen, no pool bar and it is not on the beach. We stayed in building 2 and it was very clean and I think recently updated. The resort pool is very pretty and there are plenty of lounge chairs. The Nene (Hawaiian Geese) are a bit annoying and poop all over the place. Maintenance workers do come by and sweep up poop, but it gave me the icks. We were only there for 3 nights which was perfect, There is only one restaurant at the resort and a very small marketplace to purchase snacks, coffee and other necessities. I can honestly say if I went back to Kauai I would not stay there.
