7.0Breakfast was good and so was the location and the A/C. It was also quite not alot of nosie at night.
− The water pressure in the shower was less than a kids squirt gun. The toilet was not properly bolted to the floor, and the television was mount in a way that it was to be watched from sitting on the floor in front of the bed and could not be adjusted up. I feel like I could have stopped at home depot and got a sheet of plywood sub floor that would have been softer than the bed.
Didn’t Like the Place
6.0West Bend isn’t awash with fine accommodation, and this hotel served a purpose - but we didn’t like it much and it fell short of the standard anticipated of the Hampton brand, particularly in terms of interior noise pollution and quality of finish. We could hear our neighbours conversation, and noted various examples of shoddy workmanship. We were little impressed with plastic cutlery and cardboard plates at breakfast, though it’s a nice touch that this self service buffet is included in the price. There is a lounge/bar area but no drinks service, just a vending machine selling a very limited range of canned drinks (including wine and beer). No glasses provided. Plus points of the hotel include generously proportioned rooms, comfortable beds, fridge, stable WiFi, plentiful charging points and ample free parking. The shower worked well and a fairly generous array of wall fixed toiletries are supplied, though some were empty. Reception staff were all very nice. West Bend has some half decent restaurants within a few minutes drive. Rooms rates were inflated at the time of our stay for some reason, a standard room costing $320+ per night. Far too much for what felt like a bang average, budget stay.
