Average stay in a somewhat depressing area.
6.0Hotel was OK. It seems that the entire area is suffering a decline in tourism. The restaurant tied to the hotel was closed. Parking is problematic. Very tight parking on a gravel area. The good news is that the room and bathroom were very clean.
Great accommodation in a stunning location
10.0What a lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Staff were all friendly and worked really hard to serve the guests. We booked on a half board basis with picnic lunch through a walking holiday company and the food was excellent. Traditional Swiss breakfast of cold meats and cheese, various breads, rolls and croissants with jams, honey & Nutella, as well as boiled eggs and cereals, yoghurts and fruit. The evening meals were superb, very tasty and well presented. Drinks were quite expensive at the bar, particularly the wine. The guest lounge was well equipped with a free pool table and games. There is a small pool and sauna downstairs but we didn’t get time to use them. Rooms were very clean and comfortable with magnificent views of the mountains. A hairdryer was provided and a coffee machine, but no milk. Would have preferred a kettle and choice of tea or coffee etc. Hotel is in great location to access the train station, bus stops and gondolas and cable cars up to the three different mountains. Highly recommend a stay here. Imagine it would be really cosy in the winter.

10.0Very much a vintage hotel experience. I had an excellent mountain view, which I was able to enjoy from bed every morning. The cleaning crew were efficient and very good. The staff was very helpful with planning alternative hikes. I chose to walk the 800m from the train station, which for me was very doable. However, I am very fit and this may not be an option for everyone. The breakfast buffet was very good. I also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, Nico's, which was excellent. It was my best dining experience in Kandersteg and during my stay in Switzerland. The spa was small, but clean and very relaxing. I highly recommend staying here and would absolutely re-visit if I come back to Switzerland.
An excellent base for a walking holiday
10.0A lovely experience in a very well run hotel. Staff were efficient, helpful and they seemed happy- which speaks well of the leadership. The food was excellent ( though my fussy teenager occasionally opted out for pizza.🙄. ) . The rooms were nicely proportioned (though we had a suite with a separate shower and bathroom) and the beds firm. The views magnificent! An excellent base for our walking holiday. I can highly recommend
