Sadly I only stayed here for one night before my flight, but the experience was outstanding. the staff were beyond incredible. Kind, helpful, friendly and welcoming. The beds were super comfy and arranged was good to get out and about. I left my little boys switch at the hotel when I left for the UK and Natasha was amazing at ensuring I got it back, she really went above and beyond and we are so happy. Thank you! I will be sending lots of customers your way and appreciate you all. Thanks again

Better experience than anticipated

We stayed at the Ramada by Wyndham Katunayake near Colombo International Airport and were pleasantly surprised. Based on some previous reviews, we were actually a bit worried before arrival and even considered changing hotels – but in the end, our experience was very positive. We received a spacious, clean, and fresh-smelling double room. The amenities (AC, hot water, safe, fridge, kettle) worked perfectly, and complimentary water, tea, and coffee were provided. Check-in was smooth and efficient. The pool and surrounding area were clean and well maintained. We also had a late vegan lunch, and the chef kindly adapted the meal (gluten-free veggie burgers using rice flour), which we really appreciated. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating throughout our stay, despite us only booking two nights at a reasonable price. The airport transfer (private van for four suitcases, LKR 3,400) at midnight was well organized. The only downside was the “nature view” from the room, which didn’t quite match expectations. Overall, a much better experience than anticipated. 👍

Unpleasant “suite” at Ramada by Wyndham

I wanted to stay close to the Colombo airport for several nights. Firstly the hotel is NOT really very close, by road, to the airport. It is at least a 20min drive. While the hotel offers a free pickup shuttle FROM the airport, you have to pay 3,400 LKR for a lift to the airport, when leaving the hotel, even if you didn’t use the free shuttle coming to the hotel! I had travelled throughout Sri Lanka for 3 weeks and this was THE most uncomfortable and unpleasant room I experienced. Certainly, the bed was very, very uncomfortable. Management has removed the aircon controller and temperature switch from the room so you can’t control the temperature. You need to ask for someone to come and change the temperature and even then, the aircon could barely maintain a constant 22°. I’m was told the aircon system was very old. The “white” sheets and towels were of a very poor quality and more gray than white! Although my floor was no smoking, you can smell smoke throughout the building and in the reception area. My “suite” and the building were very old and tired and my room did not match the suite photos on the internet. A blot on the Ramada name.
