Just perfect
10.0Wow what a beautiful hotel, we stayed at the outrigger for 9 days it was our first visit to Koh samui as a family with a 10 and 14 yr old children. This hotel is stunning with a colonial look, the hotel and grounds are immaculate and staff are so lovely. The main pool and beach area is accessible over a main road which has a maned crossing 24 hours, these men do a great job getting the traffic to stop so guests can cross as in Thailand zebra crossing don’t seem to have the same meaning as in the uk! There is one main pool, an infinity pool also a shallow pool for little ones and a slide which was a great hit with my 10 year old . Always Sunbed’s available so no need to reserve, we ate at the pool /restaurant a few times at lunch and dinner and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. The only one thing I noticed was due to spilt drinks left by hotel guests the previous day seemed to be ants near some of the beds and also on the sandy area where there are beds too that we used, maybe a hose down at night would clear this problem with the residue left from the day before. The beach area is not the best by the hotel there is seaweed that the hotel workers do clear away daily by burying it in the sand but to access the sea by the hotel is quite rocky to enter, further down Lamai beach is clearer and you can rent Sunbed’s down there too. We stayed in connecting superior room which had so much room and a balcony off both rooms, lovely and modern with a fridge that is stocked daily with water. Great storage space in both rooms. We were bed and breakfast and the choice at breakfast was outstanding, beautifully displayed too. The kids loved the games room with a pool table, air hockey and ping pong. My 10 yr old enjoyed using the kids club where she tie dyed a T-shirt and did other wonderful activities with the lovely staff. We were at the hotel for Easter Sunday and the activities that was put on for the younger guests were wonderful and very thought out , for 150 baht you could choose a Easter bag to decorate for the egg hunt , also lots of pool games and a piñata filled with sweets my daughter absolutely loved this and the staff did an amazing job as it was very busy at the pool that day as I think most of the hotel guests attended. The location of outrigger is perfect, we would walk into Lamai in 20 mins and a footpath the whole way. You can walk along the beach which we did in the day but not at night as parts not well lit. Lots of restaurants nearby and 7/11 either side of the hotel. We used grab taxis when we needed to travel further out of Lamai they are always available straight away and cheaper than taxis. I would definitely stay at this hotel again , thank you for a wonderful stay!
Stunning hotel which is very family friendly
10.0This is a very special hotel - the hotel building itself is stunning and very unique. We stayed in one of the executive bedrooms which was huge and had plenty of space for us as a family of 3. We had a king size bed and our daughter had her own area in the living room. The design is well thought out with plenty of storage space. On arrival, you receive a lovely welcome and the porters are so helpful. We had access to the Voyager lounge for drinks and snacks which is a beautiful room and very relaxing to escape the sun for a bit. To Edgewater pool (most popular pool) is over the road but easy to access as they have people to help you cross the road which can be busy. This beach and pool area had lots of choices of pools which are all connected and close together so it makes it easy to try all of them. Our daughter loved the small water slide. We never had an issue getting a sunbed and fresh towels are given to you. There is happy hour each day from 5pm which was great and free water sports - paddle boarding and kayaking. The beach area isn’t the best but that isn’t the fault of the resort - it’s just the water visibility isn’t great but they do their best and if you walk a little up the beach it’s better. This is a short walk from Lamai and all the action. The kids club is fantastic and lots of activities on and clean and well kept. Our daughter loved it! They made a real effort to make Easter special. The thing that stood out for me is the hotel team - they were so friendly and welcoming - in particular to Peter (chef), Aliss (kids club), Bee (reception) , Feen (restaurant and edgewater) , Mulan and Joe and our room cleaner who was excellent. This was a beautiful hotel which was so child friendly and I would definately recommend this to families.
Unforgettable holiday memories
10.0The reception to check in made the best start to a long haul flight. Wonderful start with early check in and a wonderful big smile from the staff. This has a massive impact to knowing your going to be looked after. The location is excellent ,close a lot of the main tourist attractions. 7-11 on both sides of the hotel and the beach across the road, not the best beach although the gardeners worked hard every morning to clean it. Go five mins each side to have soft sand and crystal clear water. We preferred the left side. Which also had a lovely bar with trees to shade you in the afternoon while you looked over a beautiful view. Although the beach was on the other side of a busy road, the lovely security guys always helped you across. Taxi rank , laundry and 7-11 right outside which was really convenient. Our rooms were absolutely beautiful, we brought tea bags with us and having the fridge was convenient for milk, cold drinks etc. we had a supply of water left daily along with clean towels and bedding. The bed was really comfy. One of best sleeps we have ever stayed in. The shower, bath was perfect and lots of hot water. Iron and ironing board. 2 TVs and a very comfy couch were a bonus. My only complaint would be that it’s a shame there were no coffee machines to add the full luxury to the room. The best part of our hotel experience has to be Sal ( Hope I’ve spelt her name correctly) the voyager club. Her attention to detail, remembering our names and what we drank along with a huge knowledge of the area. She absolutely made our stay worth while, we looked forward to chatting to her daily. We had three rooms and we can honestly say she made our holiday. She is an asset to your team and it was very noticeable when she had a day off. Please thank her for all her advice and recommendations. We really did value her and felt sad to say good. An amazing lady. I would return just to say hello to her. Please thank her. The breakfast was very good with a great selection, I did feel sometimes clearing the table was rather slow but saying that I do love to sit back and watch the world go by. Usually at least 3 coffees A few times I clean the table of glasses and coffee mugs but that’s not to say the staff were not good , they were happy, kind and the food was excellent. We paid a lot of money to stay and felt it was worth every penny. The food in the restaurant was very good and the service was 5*. Often tipped to reflect how good the service was, however I would stress the food and drink compared to other restaurants at the same level had in my opinion to high a mark up which lead us to go out more than we would of wanted too. There are some amazing restaurants very close by, with beautiful views, seating and live entertainment for half the price of the hotel food. Looking at how empty the restaurant was obviously reflected the prices as the food and service was amazing. I personally think this should be reviewed and more energy/ entertainment during customers holidays. We did attend the bbq which was delicious and enjoyed the fire show. We absolutely would recommend this hotel to our friends and family. Please thank everyone of your team for making our holiday so beautiful and a very special lady called Sal. I’m positive we will return. Chris, Della and family.
Busy road
8.0Ok, the positives. I’ve been travelling to Thailand for over 25 years and I’ve got to say the team here have got to be up there with the best I’ve experienced. All seemed to know their roles and all with a smile. Special mention for Toey and Feen always smiling and an asset to any establishment. The room was fine, dated maybe but comfortable and functional. I quite liked the colonial style although the uneven path from the reception to the rooms was awkward to navigate with cases and after any rain left puddles to dodge. Breakfast was usual 4 star fare, not the best I’ve had, except maybe the egg station which seemed less chaotic than others. Personally I was disappointed with the breads available no rolls or baguettes mainly pre sliced. The edgewater pools and restaurant were great and we always managed to get sun beds. The negatives. Well the location really the road outside the hotel is very busy at times and although the security team are there to assist with crossing you can’t avoid the noise or pollution. The walk into the main town, about 15 minutes means walking along it which wasn’t great. Some good restaurants either side of the hotel but again close to the road. The beach is pretty poor outside the resort, lots of seaweed and plastic which is a shame because it’s very shallow and would be perfect for families with young children. So despite liking the hotel I doubt I’ll return. Haven’t been to Koh Samui for some years and it’s not what is was.
A wholesome stay
10.0Our stay at Outrigger Koh Samui was truly wonderful. The hotel is set in a beautiful location with several lovely pools, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Breakfast was excellent each morning, and we especially loved the food at the Seawater Beach Club — great quality and a fantastic setting by the beach. This was our first family trip with our 6-month-old daughter, and while the resort itself is fantastic, the true highlight of our stay was the staff. Every single member of the team was incredibly attentive, kind, and welcoming. What really stood out was how wonderful they were with our little girl. Their warmth and genuine care made us feel so comfortable and made the trip even more special for our family. A very special shout-out to May, who built such a lovely connection with our daughter. Her kindness and attention meant so much to us and created memories we will always cherish. She is a big reason why this trip was so memorable and also a big reason why we will absolutely be returning to Koh Samui. Thank you to the entire team for making our first family holiday so special.
A good location.
6.0This hotel was in a good location though set across the road from the beach. The beds were very comfortable though the bathroom area small, no furniture on the balcony either. On a positive we did have an iron and ironing board and the food was good, though we only had breakfast in the hotel. We experienced some issues with plumbing but these were resolved once we made staff aware of the issue. The main pool area opposite the hotel was not particularly clean and felt cramped so we tended to use the smaller pool inside the hotel complex. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
