Our stay at Airelles Gordes
10.0Airelles Gordes is one of those rare places that somehow lives up to every impossibly beautiful photo you've ever seen. Housed in a restored 16th century Provençal bastide overlooking the Luberon, it's breathtaking without ever feeling overly polished or pretentious. Every little detail has been considered, and you can feel the care in everything around you. But as beautiful as the property is, it's the people who make it unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, every single member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The front desk always greeted us with a smile, housekeeping was wonderful, and the concierge seemed to have the perfect recommendation for absolutely everything. We quickly learned that if they suggested it, we should just say yes. The service was extraordinary. Not just attentive, but the kind that somehow anticipated what you needed before you even realized you needed it. It felt effortless, thoughtful, and incredibly personal. It's such a rare gift to make guests feel so well cared for without it ever feeling intrusive. We made our way through every restaurant at the hotel, and each one was a completely different experience. Every meal was delicious, every setting felt unique, and somehow they kept surprising us. We never once felt like we were repeating the same dinner in a different room. One of the best recommendations from the concierge was Morgan, our photographer. He was absolutely wonderful. He made everyone feel comfortable, kept us laughing, and somehow turned taking photos into one of our favorite memories from the trip. The photos are beautiful, but what we'll remember most is how enjoyable he made the experience. Even the smallest details felt luxurious. The products throughout the hotel were exceptional, and everything was clearly chosen with care. And then there were the sheets. I don't know what kind of magic they weave into those linens, but I still think about them. My biggest regret from the entire stay is not asking if I could buy a set to take home. Airelles Gordes is certainly one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed, but that's not what we'll remember most. We'll remember the kindness, the warmth, the feeling that every person genuinely wanted us to have the most wonderful stay possible. That's the kind of luxury you can't design, and it's what makes this place truly extraordinary.
Was I dreaming or was it real?
10.0Was I dreaming, or was it real? We stayed at Airelles Gordes, and I truly cannot recommend it highly enough. The property is impeccably maintained. Despite being a historic building with so much character and history, everything feels fresh, spotless, and perfectly cared for. We were told that the hotel closes every winter to carry out extensive maintenance, and it really shows. Every detail is immaculate. One of my favorite touches was the thoughtful gifts throughout the stay. It starts with matching pajamas for you and your partner, followed by several other little surprises. These small gestures made the experience feel extra special. And yes, the minibar is completely complimentary. Not only that, but it’s stocked with amazing candies, chocolates, and premium snacks. Whatever you might crave, it’s probably there. I also loved that many of the drinks by the pool are complimentary. At some luxury hotels, you don’t even get free water by the pool. At Airelles, you pay a premium, but you genuinely receive a premium experience in return. We did experience an issue with the hot water supply in our room, but the way the hotel handled it was exceptional. I spoke with the General Manager, and after staying at many ultra-luxury hotels around the world, I can honestly say he is made for this role. He was courteous, kind, professional, and resolved everything in the best possible way. Airelles should be grateful to have a GM of this caliber running their Gordes property. We also had dinner at Beefbar, which had only recently opened. As expected, there were a few teething issues, but the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. Combined with the spectacular views, I’m confident it will become an outstanding dining destination. Because of the water issue, the hotel kindly moved us to a Valley View room for one night. Honestly was I dreaming? I have never seen a view quite like it. It was the most beautiful view I have ever experienced. If your budget allows, I strongly recommend booking a Valley View room. The difference between the valley and village views is absolutely night and day. Breakfast was extensive, with virtually anything you could wish for available. Service was occasionally a little clumsy, but once again, the view completely makes up for it. This hotel holds the prestigious “Palace” distinction in France (one of the highest honors a hotel can receive) and I couldn’t agree more with that recognition. In fact, I would rank it above several Palace hotels I’ve stayed at in Paris. I also can’t stop talking about the views of both the property and Gordes itself. It’s not Gordes—it’s GORGEOUS. The only minor criticism I have is that some members of the reception and concierge team could occasionally come across as a little cold. For example, after the concierge recommended a new restaurant, we stopped by to look at the menu, but it was still closed. When we later asked him to make a reservation for us, he seemed surprised that we hadn’t done so ourselves. It felt a little awkward, but more like clumsiness than rudeness. I could go on and on, but it would almost sound exaggerated. The truth is that I was completely in awe of this property. Even upon departure, the experience continued. We were given a thoughtful goodie bag containing Ladurée macarons, water, and other small gifts. Airelles truly thinks of everything, from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. I’ve never stayed at a hotel that anticipates guests’ needs so completely from start to finish. Trust me: book this hotel with your eyes closed. You won’t be disappointed.
A dreamy trip back to medieval times.
10.0A beautifully restored 16th-century seigneurial residence perched above the medieval hilltop village of Gordes. Acquired by the Airelles group and reimagined as an idealized 18th-century Provençal bastide, it feels like stepping into another era—the closest I've come to feeling like a character in Bridgerton. I originally fell in love with the look of a private estate called Le Carmejane in Ménerbes and searched for a hotel with a similar atmosphere. This was exactly what I had hoped to find. The golden limestone architecture, terraced gardens, infinity pool, and towering cypress trees perfectly capture the timeless beauty of the Luberon region. The restoration is remarkable. Historic details have been carefully preserved, while antique furniture, traditional craftsmanship, and elegant interiors create a sense of comfort and understated luxury rather than rusticity. We only stayed one night before returning to Paris, but I already know I would come back for at least three. The service was exceptional from start to finish. As we were on our honeymoon, the staff went out of their way to make us feel special, even preparing a packed lunch for our train journey and arranging international shipping of an item we accidentally left behind. A truly unforgettable stay and one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever visited.
Airelles La Bastide de Gordes - refused entry to the bar!!
6.0We have been visiting/staying at the Airelles La Bastide de Gordes for about 15 years. We have just returned from the Luberon after a week’s family vacation with my parents and 3 adult sons. Whilst there my parents wanted to treat us to a drink on the terrace before eating in Gordes, one of our cars was valet parked the other my sons parked elsewhere in the village and we ( my elderly parents and my husband) went into the hotel and to the bar for drinks. After 10 minutes we were wondering where my sons were, they had been told by reception staff that the bar was full and they couldn’t come through and join us, which was not true, there were 3 empty seats at our table and there were several others available. I feel very sad that this hotel now seems to curate its visitors, and quite honestly I don’t think I will bother to go back. End of a chapter for us
A couper le souffle !
10.0Fabuleuse adresse !
A magical and enchanting stay in a place that treats you like royalty. Don’t miss the opportunity to dine at the except
