Best part of our 3 weeks in South Africa. I recommend day at Addo Elephant reserve and Schotia reserve.

9.0Die Anlage war sehr schön. Man hatte einen tollen Ausblick und die Zimmer waren groß. Wir haben am ersten Tag die Addo Safari und dann die Schotia Safari gemacht. Beide waren der Hammer und die guides sehr nett. Ich würde empfehlen beide zu machen, sie sind vom vibe sehr unterschiedlich. Wenn nur Zeit für eine Safari ist, würde ich die Schotia bevorzugen, da sind die Tiere näher und die Wahrscheinlichkeit die big 5 zu sehen größer. Frühstück war lecker. Das Personal war äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit
− Beim Frühstück sind mir Kaffee und Tee inkludiert, ich bestellte einen Kakao. Erst am Ende der Reise wurde mir gesagt, er wäre nicht inklusive und ich müsste ihn bezahlen… Zudem waren sehr viele Tiere, Spinnen, geckos, Käfer, Schlangen etc. im Zimmer. Bei der Lage der lodge ist das aber normal. Der Weg zur Lodge führt zwar über einen schotterweg, dafür konnten wir auf diesen Schildkröten etc. sehen.
Lodge mit Potenzial
6.0Sehr sehr schöne Lage und sauber, wir hatten eine tolle Safari in den Addo Elefant Nationalpark über das Hotel gebucht und wir hatten ein Top Fahrer.
− Das Hotel wirkt insgesamt sehr traditionell und teilweise ziemlich steif. Besonders das Restaurantkonzept war gewöhnungsbedürftig: feste Tischordnung, gemeinsames Servieren für alle Gäste und wenig Flexibilität. Direkt bei der Ankunft musste man sofort ein Menü auswählen, was eher unangenehm und etwas gezwungen wirkte. Da es kaum Alternativen in der Umgebung gibt, ist man praktisch auf die Halbpension angewiesen. Der erste Abend mit festgelegtem Menü und der ruhigen Atmosphäre war insgesamt eher befremdlich auch andere Gäste wirkten darüber verwundert. Zudem konnte man nicht alle Speisen essen, wodurch das Konzept noch unflexibler wirkte. Das Barbecue am zweiten Abend war dagegen deutlich lockerer und insgesamt angenehmer. Die Zimmer waren zwar komfortabel, aber recht dunkel eingerichtet. Insgesamt ist das Hotel sehr „old school“ das muss man mögen.
