The property is older but they have remodeled. It was fine. The beds were comfortable and the facility was quiet. Staff was friendly and efficient.

Great base for exploring Banff, with a few minor bumps

We chose Canmore as a budget-friendly alternative to Banff and were so glad we did! Canmore is a lovely, quieter town with fantastic local restaurants, and it’s only a 20-minute drive to Banff. The Positives: The Hotel & Staff: The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The free tea, coffee, and fruit in reception were a lovely touch. The Room: While the decor won't win any style awards (it's basic and a bit tired), the room was clean, the beds were very comfy, and we had everything we needed. Amenities: We were very glad to have working air conditioning during our summer visit, even if it was on the noisy side. The Downsides: Soundproofing & Room Location: We requested a quiet room, but were placed right next to the lift at the start of the corridor. Between the high foot traffic and some inconsiderate guests, we were kept awake until 1 AM on our first night—far from ideal before our early sunrise tour the next day. Housekeeping: Rooms are only refreshed every three days, which felt a bit sparse. The Breakfast Mix-up: There is no onsite restaurant (though plenty nearby), but they do offer a breakfast-to-go. We ordered one for our first morning, but the staff accidentally booked it for the wrong day. It caused a bit of early-morning panic before our tour, but thankfully they had spares to save the day. Verdict: A decent, clean, and friendly place to lay your head if you want to escape Banff prices, just pack some earplugs!

Overall, our stay was acceptable, but there were a few areas that could be improved: * The guest rooms did not have USB charging ports, which have become a standard feature in most hotels today. * The air conditioning did not cool the room adequately. Thankfully, a standing fan was provided, which helped. * The washroom was not cleaned to the standard we expected. * The blinds on the bedroom door did not provide sufficient privacy. Even when fully closed, it was still possible to see through them. Addressing these issues would greatly improve the guest experience.
