Dara Old City Hotel

Great location and kind staff, but breakfast is lacking and noise is an issue.

The location is excellent. Very walkable from Topkapı and Ayasofya. The staff was friendly and helpful.

− Main issue was noise. The bar / restaurant played music until about 2 AM and and there was also a lot of foot traffic to/from the restaurant throughout the night. My room was on the 3rd floor so it was close to the restaurant noise. The restaurant noise also started early in the morning as the breakfast was prepared, so it was bad on both ends. The elevator interior door did not work which seemed unsafe. Smoke from people smoking inside the restaurant also made its way into my room. The kahvaltı was not very good, and some of the mezzes tasted a bit spoiled. The bathroom smelled of mold, but the room itself did not.

Very rude staff and unfriendly treatment

At the beginning and once we arrived the reception was very nice and friendly but once we got the room it was very small, and very weird as well, then the staff was very rude and very unprofessional they ruined the entire stay in Istanbul with their behaviors thats all I can say

− I had 2 bad situations with the staff in the rooftop while having the breakfast We paid for the breakfast as part of the booking, and we got was: Stiuation 1 I had a trip one day and I had to leave around 8:15 so I asked if I can have small breakfast box with fruits or so they refused and said we can't do that even I can't do that - I was fine and said its okay then I skip it that day even though I had 15 mins to have the breakfast before I go but I decided to skip Situation 2 Today, I check out 8:20 am I went upstairs in the rooftop to get quick breakfast I was there 7:58 and only put my small handbag on the table to get ready to get something quickly before the taxi comes, they kicked me out saying that we can't offer early breakfast as we have to take photos and videos for advertising and filming and you have to leave, the breakfast officially stars at 8:00 am !!! That was just shocking to me I didn't say anything I didn't even argue with them I just left and I decided to pass my experience Overall the staff ( not all of them ) are the only disappointing point in this hotel

The location is definitely the best thing about this hotel! It’s very central, with easy access to the main attractions. The airport bus stop is also very close, just a short walk uphill, which is not a problem at all. The location is truly a gem!

− Everything else was good, but unfortunately, some of the staff on the terrace were very unfriendly. After my first experience, After first time in the evening time I didn’t even feel like going back for breakfast, despite it being included in the price, simply because I didn’t want to have the same experience again. Of course, not all the staff were like this, but a few interactions really affected my overall impression.
