Very nice
8.0Beautiful location
− Kettle in my room didn’t work. Has been reported by previous guests but still not fixed
Lovely location just needs updating. Carpets on the first floor and stairs
5.0Beautiful location
− Very dated
A real treat, very special and welcoming
10.0The only place I've ever stayed where you have a choice of feather and non-feather pillows! It was hot, and the room was aired and there was a v robust fan. Gorgeous view over a lake. Lovely seating area for drinks outside. Very charming couple running it, attentive and friendly. Good sized room, has everything you need. Highly recommend.
− Nothing
Picturesque Hotel. Friendly Staff but service poor. Needs improvement
6.0Picturesque old converted milll with terrace overlooking Millpond. Extensive lawned area. Check in by friendly male receptionist. Showed to room. Room small but adequate overlooking terrace and millpond. Room tired but OK. Fan available as room very hot in outside temps of over 30c. Bathroom adequate but tired. Don’t expect hand soap. You use small tube of shower gel. No shelf in shower to place soap etc. Shower fine. Plenty of towels. Went to bar. Receptionist was also barman but not always available so wait for service. None of the draught beer pumps working and weren’t for two nights we stayed. Bottled drinks only. Sat on terrace on cast iron patio furniture. Don’t expect cushions. You have to ask for them. Had evening meal served by……. same barman/receptionist now waiter. Food was very good, freshly cooked although service was slow as he as was back and to, to kitchen, bar and reception. About 9.20pm, after meal, he informed us he was locking rear of hotel and we would have to access hotel via front door. This meant a walk round the hotel perimeter, across lawn and through two car park. On doing so at 9.30 pm shutters were down on bar and hotel was deserted of staff. At breakfast next morning. Don’t expect toast with full English. Have to ask. Also have to ask for butter. Have to ask for milk for tea. No sauces supplied. Don’t expect toast, tea or juice to come in any order. Toast may come after you have finished. Sausages came on a separate plate as after we almost finished breakfast. Breakfast good but not a fan of streaky greasy bacon but hot. Breakfast service next day was terrible. Had to order items on several occasion after waiting over half hour for even a drink. Breakfast came before any drinks or toast. Ran out of orange juice but persons who arrived after us served orange. Food was average. Very greasy. Fried eggs hard and bacon is always streaky. Took at least 40 mins to get breakfast. On looking around hotel after our arrival on first day, in public seating area, found a windowsill full of hundreds of dead/dying flies that had spilled over onto carpet. Mentioned to the one member of staff who said they were sorting. Remained like this for two days.
Very relaxing and very quiet.
8.0The breakfast on the decking was a great way to start my Tuesday working day. Eggs Royal was perfect. Lovely view from the bedroom window overlooking the decking and pond.
− The carpet could have been cleaner, the room was looking tired but the curtains didn't cover the ends which let a lot of light in (room 7). Shame the restaurant was closed on a Monday night but the Dolphin pub was excellent.
The Sheene Mill is the ONLY perfect wedding venue & hotel! Don’t look anywhere else!
10.0This was the most magical wedding Anniversary me and my wife have ever had! We got married here at The Sheene Mill and being able to return brought back our favourite memories! What stood out even more was the staff! Every single person there treated us like VIP! Levis went above and beyond to make sure that all of our dreams came true and he was so helpful every moment of our entire stay! We can’t thank the new owners enough for breathing the most outstanding new life into our special place! Please that personal touch with all of your guests and The Sheene Mill will always continue to thrive!
− We loved everything about it! Our stay was perfect!!
