Overall was ok but probably would not stay here again.
6.0The property was in a great location for us. Lots of cafes, shops and lots of the tick list tourists things all within walking distance. Staff were helpful and let us store our bags for the day when we arrived. And on check in the chap on reception took our case to our room. We had a family room (two double beds) the room was very basic and if you’re looking for somewhere just to get your head down for the night, then this is ideal. It was clean but perhaps not quite up to my standards.
− The property certainly needs some TLC in some areas. Holes/cracks in the walls, stains on the ceiling, marks on the carpets, tape holding the carpet together on the stairs. We found hairs on the towels. There are no hot drink making facilities in the room. They do have them in reception but when you wake up you don’t really fancy getting dressed straight away to go and get a hot drink.
Very basic and no frills. Good location.
5.0Basic.
− Feels old and not well maintained. Window was rattling when the wind is strong.
Disappointing experience as a solo female
3.0WiFi was fine. Although the corridor outside my room was very creaky it wasn't overly used and the room was on the whole quiet. They offered tea and coffee in reception if you wanted it but I didn't fancy the trek down after barracading myself in!
− As a single female travelling alone, I didn't appreciate the very sizeable gap under my door. I had to stuff a pillow against the door and use a chair to prop against the pillow and door. It was that big I could fit both hands under it. It let a lot of light in and obviously didn't feel very private. Sadly the screenshot from my video will not upload on here but will post to TA instead. I booked a double room and got a twin room with two camp style beds. There was a poor mattress with a mattress topper but no mattress or pillow protectors. The topper had yellow stains and the quilt cover did too. I ended up lying on top of the duvet and doubling up the pillowcase to create my own pillowcase protector. I use mattress and pillow protectors in my own home, it's a basic in hospitality. The bathroom was tiny with about an inch either side of the loo. I'm tiny but it was tight squeeze making sure not to knock elbows. I had one towel, a large bath towel. No hand towel. There wasn't a towel hook in the bathroom. My room was on the top floor with no lift and a lot of stairs. The heating was on full blast when I arrived and the window was open which seems odd. It was hard to close and overall, I didn't feel comfortable here as a solo female traveller. Sadly, it was a little too late to find somewhere else. I got the impression they were surprised to see a female checking in and almost apologised my room was so high up.
Perfect location, staff lovely, basic but would use again
5.0The location was perfect, the room was clean, basic but had everything I needed, staff were helpful and lovely
− The bathroom, the shower doors had a gap so whilst showering floods the floor, when getting out because the floor slopes you step on to a wet tiled floor and felt a little unsafe, the handle on the shower door was broken so no where to hold on to, could really do with two towels, as had to use one towel to mop up the floor so I didn’t slip but then needed it to dry myself and my hair. Wi-Fi was very hit and miss, which was a little challenging as needed it to do some work online, but minor things , I would use it again
