Good central location for Windermere stay

Nice location, easy walk from the train station. Very nice breakfast cooked to order.

− It is dated and a bit run down. Mold in the shower. Fan in the room didn’t work well, so it was very hot at night.

A good location outside the centre of Windermere but close enough to walk into town and down to Bowness- on-Windermere. Your own front door key so you could come and go as you pleased even after the front doors were locked.

− My room was in the roof space which had fine views, however with a sloping roof and low protruding beams, I did hit my head a few times.

− Mould around shower and the shower didn’t drain properly.

We encountered several significant issues that severely impacted our comfort.

Location, room size

− The room lacked a fan despite the intense heat, making it nearly impossible to stay cool. Furthermore, the Wi-Fi was extremely slow, rendering it effectively unusable. When we raised these concerns, staff were unhelpful, noting that the owner is unwilling to invest in upgrades. To top it off, breakfast was poorly managed; essential items like butter were out of stock on the last , with staff informing us that restocking would not happen for another three days. These operational failures make for an unacceptable guest experience. The staff needs to be more empathetic!

The location was perfect, situated in the middle of Windermere it was only a couple minute walk to cafes, shops and pubs

− The room was very dated and in need of maintenance, with peeling damp on part of the ceiling and several chips to the walls and furniture. The room listing stated that an iron was provided but there wasn’t one. When we raised this with reception, we were told our room didn’t come with an iron despite the advertised amenities. We were told they would try to find one, but no one got back to us. This was a major inconvenience as we were attending a wedding and hadn’t brought our own because we expected one to be available. The room was also unbearably hot, and although a fan was provided, it was ineffective and made very little difference.

− Not up to standard expected of 4 star guest house Only one window would open Hair dryer cut out after one minuet therefore no use Shower area disgusting -grouting black - cable to shower head disgustingly black - nowhere to put shampoo or shower gel unless using floor which meant bending down every time this was not safe
