Exceptional Staff and Service
10.0While the hotel is lovely, all the staff really make the place what it is - lovely people and some of the best service I’ve received. Very accommodating, polite and friendly. Food at the restaurant was also excellent!

Stunning Lodge with breathtaking views.
10.0This gorgeous lodge has to be on one of the loveliest places on the planet. The service was excellent. The cottage was stunning. We only wished we could stay longer.
Not one for us unfortunately
6.0I want to try and be fair but ultimately this hotel did not suit us. On the plus side our suite was enormous and overlooked the water. As can be seen from the promotional video it is quite old fashioned in style but we expected that. There are a few things which the hotel can't do much about - I think it is fair to say that the lake has a smell of sulphur which you can smell from time to time and there are a lot of flies at certain times of the year. This meant that we could not open the doors to the balcony in our room. In addition the hotel needs more staff - the same person was checking in new guests and serving dinner and there was a long delay to the food. We did not enjoy the dinner. Later in the evening there was nobody around to ask for any drinks. We also experienced a few communication difficulties which marred our stay and led to some awkwardness. The room rate is very high - although we did stay at an expensive time of year and the room was large. It was just too high for the full nature of the experience that we had, taken as a whole. (Please note that you need to telephone a New Zealand telephone number to gain access on arrival so you need to be able to do that on an international phone.) If we were planning the road trip again we would have reconsidered staying in Rotorua.
