For a two star motel we felt this was a really good find and surpassed higher star properties we have stayed in. Tastefully renovated and exceptionally clean. Beautiful setting with sliding doors out onto grass area overlooking a creek, with outside seating. Comfortable bed and pillows, great shower. Microwave, fridge, and coffee machine. Very friendly and accommodating owner and staff. Highly highly recommended.

We (my wife and I) enjoy staying in small independent and historic hotels, and while the ones marketed as "historic" are usually very good, older hotels/motels without that designation often are not. With that in mind, I'd considered booking The Monroe Motel as a bit of a gamble, and I'm glad I took it because our entire experience was excellent. The property was well maintained. Room 8 had a nice lawn with a stream running behind it. The room was spotless and comfortable - and what really made the Monroe stand out was the attentive and excellent service from the gentleman operating the hotel - the owner I presume. Plus, the room had a regular TV that we could watch regular channels on without having to log on to streaming services - a pet peeve of mine.

− NA: I thought AC might be nice when it gets warmer - because we were already thinking about returning for a future visit - so I asked about it, and the owner said he puts in window AC units during the summer months, and he plans on having modern HVAC installed in the near future. So with that as my only concern eliminated, I have to rate the Monroe 5-Stars in it's category.

It was convenient for what I was doing in town. It was quite and very clean. Had all the conveniences you need. Staff was great.
