Perfectly peaceful
9.0The staff were excellent! Couldn’t do more for us, very approachable and always someone around. The room and grounds were beautiful, hot tubs, rowing boat and swimming pool all bookable to yourselfs and very easy which meant it felt like the whole house was to ourselves most of the time.
− It was very warm so the room was very warm, no AC which was disappointing for the price of the room, also the bathroom was dated and the shower lacked pressure. This wouldn’t stop me from staying again but I think for the price it was expected.
The staff at the gilpin were amazing couldn’t do enough for us.
8.0No children. And very peaceful.
− No proper air conditioning. Room was too hot on a night and the little machine was too noisy to put on during the night if you wanted to get any sleep.
Good location . But for price there are other good hotels available
4.0Location is nice
− There are no A/C in the Hotle. If you Land in the Hotel in July /Aug and if you have sun facing rooms you are in for big trouble. Our Bath rooms were more cooler then the rooms . Eventually took a small Seating chair sat in a bathroom to work We got a room with outsides windows were not clean with lot of COB webs.
Spoilt by “Optional Service Charge” The Management are just looking for sneaky ways to make you think the accommodation
8.0Good location, quiet, quirky, excellent restaurant, wonderful staff
− Sneaky “Optional Accommodation Service Charge” at £27.97 per night. When you’re paying £450 per night B&B, I consider this to be underhand! When the Manager says it doesn’t go to the Business, but goes to the Staff, I baulk at it—- it just makes you feel uncomfortable, and leaves a nasty taste. When I get on an aeroplane, I don’t expect a levy for the Staff who have just cleaned the Aircraft! The Spa is a joke- consists of 2 small outdoor Hot Tubs. This is the UK! It gets cold ,windy, and it rains ( the Lake District is one of the wettest regions in the UK). GET A ROOF and some WALLS! Definitely not 5 star
Beautiful and relaxing the food was epic Spice was the best restaurant
8.0Wanted to try both Gilpin restaurants so it made sense to stay on site! Little walk round the llama field was cute
− Our bedroom (room 4!) the room itself was lovely however it hasn’t any view other then another room’s little patio area. Felt somewhat awkward when I walked out the shower and the couple in that room were outside vaping we had to draw the curtains which on a beautiful sunny morning didn’t really want. Also couldnt we could lay on bed without being seen if “the neighbours” were sat outside their room
Can't wait to go back because it's fabulous!
10.0Very good quality with lots of choice for breakfast with fantastic views from the dining room and lounge
− There was nothing not to like. Can't wait to go again
