Return visit but still no stamp for pilgrims!
8.0We were familiar with Hotel Amadeos as we stayed here last year while walking the Camino, here we were again on the Camino. Fortunately little has changed since last year, we were pleased to be able to check-in at 1400, an added bonus. Our room #802 was roomy, neat and tidy and quiet, with a comfortable bed and two pillows each, good air-conditioning and natural light. We enjoyed being able to watch a few English speaking channels on the tv (not a smart tv). The bathroom vanity basin and bath tub had no plugs and the toilet button needed regular attention otherwise the water would continue to run. Breakfast last year was the highlight of my stay, but not this year, while there were plenty of options I felt that it had diminished, and there was no sparkling wine. I was disappointed to note that the hotel has not taken on my feedback from last year recommending that they purchase a stamp to offer to pilgrims on the Camino; still no stamp!
1/5 Terrible
2.0Terrible experience at **Hotel Amadeos - Matosinhos**. There was a constant high-pitched noise coming from the ventilation system — even louder at night — making it impossible to sleep. We changed rooms twice, but the issue was exactly the same in both. When we complained, the receptionist told us *he couldn't help and wasn't responsible for anything*. We asked him to call the manager — and were then **accused of somehow connecting our phone to the ventilation system** (which is completely absurd). When we asked for the manager’s name and contact info, we were told **he didn’t want to speak with us**. This is a complete violation of consumer rights. No compensation, no apology, just disrespect and ridiculous excuses. **Avoid Hotel Amadeos at all costs.**
ok but a bit out of the centre
6.0500 metres from the beach , decent breakfast , room a bit small , worst thing waas the toilet and washbasin were opento the room not so great if you need to wash your private parts. metro outside so easy access to central porto

A great choice of hotel in Matosinhos while walking the Camino.
10.0As I posted on another website "It was a very comfortable, quiet, one night stay with a generous sized room and views at the back of the hotel. The bed was comfortable and we appreciated having two pillows each. The bathroom was compact with a shower over a bath tub which was a great option after a day of long distance walking while on the Portugese Camino. There was plenty of room to store luggage, good size wardrobe with safe and mini-bar frig. The breakfast buffet was the highlight of the stay with a great variety of food to be attempted by." The breakfast buffet consisted of cereals, yoghurt, juices, bread, pastries, fruit, crepes, scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon, cold cuts, cheeses and salad, tea/coffee/milk, there even was a bottle of Cava! On the afternoon of our arrival after a delicious lunch at a local bar we had a quick rest before heading out to discover the neighbourhood, returning with a few supplies from the local supermarket for a hotel evening picnic. Reception staff fulfilled their role but nothing special to mention. One thing that the hotel could improve on is acquiring a stamp to provide pilgrims walking the Camino the reward they are looking for at the end/start of their day.
Clean but basic
6.0Hotel was basic but clean. Bed was comfy. Staff were great friendly and helpful. Breakfast was standard basic continental fare. There was construction going on close by but we stayed over the weekend so it wasn’t an issue. Tram stops right outside the hotel, perfect for travelling into the city and surrounding areas.
Make use of convenient amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access, tour/ticket assistance, and a vending machine.
