6.0Lovely old country house in beautiful grounds . Paid extra for a lake view , but not much of it to see. Staff are lovely . Breakfast , plenty to choose from , toast and juice not topped up or asked if we needed anything else. Room was basic for amount paid. Walls needed cleaning / repainting. Bathroom , dust and spiders ,black mould in the shower, needs a deep clean. Bed was broken and didn’t fit together , and made a lot of noise when getting in and out. Clean bedding , and towels. No complimentery biscuits . Cheap , thin toilet rolls. Overall a lovely hotel , but needs attention to detail especially cleaning . Tea is disgusting , couldn’t drink it.

10.0A lovely hotel next to Beatrix Potter's retreat at Hill Top with views down to Esthwaite Water. Our breakfast was included in our booking and we decided to eat at the hotel each evening as the food was delicious and very well presented.
