Excelent
10.0I booked this hotel because of its location and good reviews. It is within a five-minute walk of the main plaza. From the outside, the hotel looks like a regular house, and the entrance door is always locked, so staff need to let guests in and out. I arrived in Cusco early in the morning after an overnight flight. The staff contacted me on WhatsApp beforehand to confirm my arrival time. When I arrived, I was greeted with a warm smile and offered hot coca tea, which was wonderful because I was already feeling the altitude. The staff member then checked me in, and I waited only a few minutes until my room was ready. She helped me to my room, and the elevator was much appreciated after a long flight. The room was clean and spacious, with a bathroom, a small desk and chair, and a TV. There was Wi-Fi throughout the property, which made it easy to stay connected with home. My room also had a window overlooking a small garden area. The walls are thin, so you can hear noise from other areas. This is not unique to Casa Matara; it seems common in many hotels in Cusco. There is also no heating or air conditioning, but that is typical in this region. The staff provided enough blankets, so the nights were comfortable. Breakfast starts early because many travelers leave for daily excursions. I loved the homemade, made-to-order breakfast instead of a buffet. The hotel is family-run, which makes it very welcoming and especially comfortable for solo travelers. The front desk staff checked on me every day and asked whether I needed breakfast earlier than scheduled. On my last day, I had an issue with the travel agency for one of my tours, and the front desk staff helped me contact them. They also stored my luggage for a week while I was trekking. This is a clean, comfortable hotel with kind and honest staff. I highly recommend staying here.
− Nothing. I was a great stay.
