Mother and son trip
10.0Excellent service all round from the golf to the tennis to the spa to our drinks order at breakfast that our waitress remembered each day. The food is excellent in La Cave, the seafood restaurant and the George where we ate lunch each day before 18 holes of glorious golf. Thank you team Mazagan
Perfect Location
10.0This is my third visit to the Mazagan Resort, though the first for at least 10 years. I wanted to re-experience the wonderful location and service. Because Morocco can be extremely hot at certain times of the year I elected to visit in March, and whilst the weather was split between springlike and rainy, I was happy with my strategy. The hotel was very quiet other than at the buffet dinner, and that was just perfect for my preferences. At the time of booking and again 24 hours before my arrival, I was very impressed to receive a phone call from the resort to go through my details and expectations and ensure that any requests were correctly understood. This created a hugely favourable and very positive impression and this reviewer appreciated this. The hotel is located close to El Jadida, which is about 70 miles from Casablanca airport and it provides six complimentary shuttles each way every day. For anyone preferring greater flexibility and privacy, cars of various styles can be booked on an ad hoc basis. I booked the shuttle however, as I was the only incoming guest on my late evening flight, the hotel actually sent a very comfortable limousine. I was greeted warmly on arrival at reception and swiftly checked in. As it was approaching midnight the hotel was very quiet indeed. Reception staff were polite and courteous and very welcoming. The only thing that could have been improved would have been to give me details of breakfast times and the location. The hotel is of an impressively large and traditional Moroccan design and as such can be a little disorientating , though signage is good. I was extended the courtesy of being escorted to my room, which simplified things tremendously. I booked a Prime Ocean View Room, which was superbly located very close to the beach and sea. It was delightful to leave open the floor to ceiling doors of the Juliette balcony as this allowed the delightfully fresh air to enter and the sound of crashing waves to provide the perfect background to my slumber. On previous visits, I selected the partial ocean view option, and those rooms did provide a surprising and pleasantly clear view of the sea and its sounds. Room 2162 was of a respectable size and furnished to a very high standard. The floors were wooden and the entire ambiance was bright and modern. There was a large king plus sized bed and a massive wall mounted flat screen TV. There was a table with two chairs in the room, plus a very large easy chair with a side table. There was a significant amount of storage space together with a safe. The bathroom was more than adequate with a deep, soaking tub and a separate high-quality shower cubicle. There were ample fluffy white towels, together with a bathrobe and slippers. Possibly a soap dispenser at the sink area would be of benefit. Housekeeping was performed very discreetly every day, and the room was immaculately, clean and well maintained. Things were coordinated by Saida, who was exceptionally warm and friendly. There were no issues during my five night stay and any do not disturb sign in place was well respected. Two bottles of drinking water were provided every day, though it might be an idea to consider ways to allow guests to refill their own containers at a central point so as to drastically reduce the use of plastic. Breakfast was taken in the Olives restaurant and was a buffet affair. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and whilst it was self service, staff definitely went the extra mile in carrying plates and replenishing drinks, and generally making me feel welcome. There was an excellent range of food items and everything was very fresh. The freshly squeezed orange juice was an absolute delight and something that I was eagerly anticipating. There are several restaurants in the resort however, due to the low season, this was restricted to a buffet in Olives and food in the seafood restaurant. Olives was quite busy in the early evening and the staff were again very welcoming. The only minor glitch was that whilst I was selecting my first course from the extensive buffet and purposely leaving my glasses case on the table, another guest was seated in my absence and my glasses were removed. The staff were very apologetic and went out of their way to seat me at a suitable alternative table. The buffet was at a fixed price per person and, quite unexpectedly, this also included fresh juice and water. During the evening there was live entertainment in the heated annex to the restaurant. I was extremely impressed by the level of support extended to me by the concierge, Mohammed, in dealing with the stress of the airline losing my bag. He proactively contacted them to have my bag located and then booked me onto an airport shuttle to go and collect them as the airline refused to deliver. Because I was the only guest both ways on the shuttle, this was again upgraded to a limousine. This reviewer felt that this act went over and beyond the call of duty and clearly evidenced the commitment of the Mazagan Team to providing guest excellence. There is a spa in the hotel and also different activities that can be booked, including horseriding. I have used the horse riding facility a couple of times in the past and taking this on the miles of beach has been a definite highlight of those visits. All public areas of the resort were well maintained and immaculately presented, and this included several high-quality shops and a casino. The latter was maintained to a very high standard, with well groomed and very polite security personnel, and with facilities that can be compared favourably with casinos in Las Vegas, and the South of France. Room service dinner was taken on three evenings, and a very extensive menu was available. Jalela took my order and was incredibly friendly and kind, as was Yousef, who delivered my order. The food was attractively laid out on a portable table, and the food was plentiful and quite delicious. I personally preferred the room service dining experience to the buffet. Overall, my visit to Mazagan has been an absolute delight, and I found all staff to be most helpful and very pleasant. This is most definitely a venue that I can recommend to my client base.
