A travelodge in disguise
5.0Comfy bed, clean room, everything was fine on that score
− Don't be fooled. This is not a hotel. It was once, the bar is there but not used, the reception is there but not manned, there was a room laid out with cups and saucers on the tables but that was it. We didn't see a soul the whole time we were there. We might as well have booked a travelodge

− Post our booking the accommodation changed its name from The Taunton Town House to The Taunton House Hotel. The proprietor attempted to take full payment on 29 May 2026, for a stay starting 13 July 2026, with no notice. I had insufficient funds so the payment was declined. I thought this was rather early, over 6 weeks early, for a trip with free cancellation up to 11 July 2026. Tried to contact the proprietor, no luck, the phone rang but was hung up, several times. Contacted Booking .com, they tried no luck. The payment was finally taken on 17 June 2026 a month prior to arrival. This is not the sort of service I have come to expect from accommodation accessed through Booking.com, very disappointed with this proprietor.

8.0Good location with parking that met out need The room was light and airy. There was a huge Sainsbury's across the road and a petrol station around the corner.
− It was a self check in hotel. I didn't see any staff. A bit pricey for what it was.

7.0− The attitude of the host. Called him to ask for the door code because I thought it would be sent on email, but it was sent via SMS. That guy felt annoyed and said Jesus Christ at the end of the call. Overall, not a good start as I didn’t feel welcome
