Excellent Stay
10.0We’ve just spent two wonderful days in Windermere and had the pleasure of staying at Cedar Manor. The standard throughout was excellent, with real attention to detail and comfort. Breakfast was superb and very well managed, setting us up perfectly for the day. We would highly recommend Cedar Manor to anyone visiting the Windermere area.
Best afternoon tea....
10.0Another sensational afternoon tea at Cedar Manor today. Perfection.
Relaxing and authentic experience, and superb Afternoon tea!!
10.0Cedar Manor is located in a walkable distance from the Windermere tourist information center. Its welcoming garden, the stylish decor with a traditional Manor house ambience are charming and relaxing. The rooms are tastefully coordinated with amenities to make the stay comfortable. My husband, my son and I had a great experience and wished we had had more time to spend enjoying the sumptious breakfast. I would definitely recommend the afternoon tea as it was the best I've had during our entire trip to the UK. Jonathan and Caroline were very kind and accommodating, and the restaurant that they have recommended for dinner was superb. We were travelling by rental car, and there was enough space for parking, which allowed us to join a bus tour one day to visit the lakes. Although it was conveniently located near the town center, it was peaceful and there was a delightful footpath leading to Lake Windermere close by. I would recommend to my friends and family.
Fabulous Weekend
10.0Booked a long weekend away to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We had great communication from the owners, Jonathan & Caroline, both with the original booking and in the run up to our recent stay. We arranged to have afternoon tea on the day we arrived - everything was organised and ready, with a choice of eating outside in the sunshine or in a beautiful lounge / bar area inside. The afternoon tea was fabulous - I highly recommend it! The room itself was beautifully decorated. It wasn't air conditioned but even in the recent hot weather was really comfortable, with the owner making sure windows were wide open and the curtain drawn to prevent the room getting hot. Breakfasts were amazing - lots of choice, beautifully cooked and extremely well organised. The whole place is immaculate and beautifully well looked after by Jonathan and Caroline and I couldn't fault anything for the whole of our stay. As a bonus, it's also in a great location - walkable down to Lake Windermere and up to some wonderful viewing points, with good public transport to nearby tourist places like Ambleside and Grasmere. It's very easy to leave your car parked there and take buses around the local tourist spots if you don't fancy driving and trying to park.
A perfect English B&B
10.0I took a side trip from London to take two tours with Great LakesTours (which were great) and needed a place to stay for 3 nights. Cedar Manor was perfect: my room, the grounds, the food, the common areas and bar were all beautiful. Jonathan, the host, was wonderful and ordered me a couple taxi's to get to my tour pickups in time. He was a delight to talk to also. I could also walk to the hotel from the train station. I highly recommend Cedar Manor.
Not what we expected.
6.0We recently returned from a 3 night stay at Cedar Manor. The location is very handy for the centre of Windermere where you need to go for evening meals as the B&B do not serve them. The Bowness suite was comfortable although very warm as there is no air conditioning. The bathroom was very clean but we had an issue with the dispensers of shower gel and body lotion, as did other guests. The owner then proceeded to lecture us on how to use the dispensers which, being 67 and well travelled, I found a bit insulting! After dining out on our first evening, we returned to have a night cap before bed. There is a small bar but you have to press a bell to summon the owners to serve you, this felt very awkward as we got the impression we were disturbing their evening, especially when my husband had to do it again for another drink! It was obvious they didn’t really want to serve you, not great customer service and we didn’t bother for the remaining evenings which spoilt our stay somewhat. There is a small patio area in the garden where we sat for a short while one afternoon, it would have been nice if someone had approached us to see if we wanted a drink or anything, especially with the current temperatures, but again, nothing….they seem to be missing a trick somewhere but maybe aren’t too bothered. Breakfast was lovely but, for what we paid the facilities on offer were somewhat disappointing and I don’t think we would return.
