Sight Seeing in Pompei
10.0We chose Hotel Maiuri as it had a good reputation as a friendly and helpful place to stay. We found the staff very helpful. The proprietor helped us on a number of occasions. He advised us on the key areas in the ruins to see during our visit and marked specific features on a map. The breakfasts are simple but staff will cook eggs to your liking and help with dietary requirements. The fresh oranges were particularly good. We were provided with tea and coffee making facilities in our room on request. Overall we were very happy with our stay.
A PLACE TO ENJOY YOUR TRIP
10.0This is a wonderful place . We stopped there on our way from France to Bari to take the ferry to Greece . So good that we spent two nights instead of one .Very good location to visit Sorento and the Amalfi coast and the Pompei ruins ..Close to the tollway ,very easy to access .Excellent and safe private parking . Very modern rooms with balcony . Pleasant design . Very good breakfast included . You can bring your small pet . The staff is very friendly and helpful . Many places to eat around as well as a supermarket . It made our trip easier and we were able tomsee all what we wanted to see . We highly recommend it
A gret time in Pompeii!
10.0We travelled as a couple to Pompeii and spent a week at the Hotel Maiuri during September 2025. We found the hotel to be much better than expected being situated slightly away from the city centre, but it was an easy walk of 15-20 minutes to the main central areas and the ruins. All the hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and gave great service. We contacted the hotel some weeks before arrival to ask about transfers to and from Naples Airport and they provided prompt and efficient transport for both trips. I recommend this as it was a lot cheaper than those quoted on the UK travel sites. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and it must be highlighted that the breakfast options were varied and plentiful. Cereals, fruit, pastries and some freshly cooked items every morning, and great coffee which we appreciated. If requested you can ask reception for a kettle in your room, but we didn’t take up this option. The room was fairly small, but very clean and excellently equipped which was perfect for us. Everything worked perfectly and it was cleaned to a very high standard every day. There is a lovely seating area in the front garden which we used to enjoy some drinks and company on some of our evenings. Their restaurant is not open in the evenings, but drinks from the bar are available upon request, and reasonably priced as well. We found lots of good cafes and restaurants in the town centre for lunches and evening meals, Antica Cucina and Delorenzos Beef Bar were our favourites. We visited the Pompeii Scava (ruins) twice (it is a huge area!), went up Mount Vesuvius, did the Herculaneum Scava, and took a coach trip around the Amalfi Coast. There are several tour operators to chose from, but we used what we thought was the ‘official’ vendors in the main pedestrian area, which all had blue and yellow frontages. Should you wish to visit the Herculaneum ruins from Pompeii, then we recommend using the train service at €4.80 per person for a return service. Use the station just behind the Il Santuario church on the main piazza. At Herculaneum Scava Station, walk straight down the hill to the site. Check your return train to make sure it is on the green route, if you take the blue route you will have to alight at Pompeii South Station. Both the Pompeii and Herculaneum sites cost €16 for an adult entry and there is no return if you want to nip out for a quick lunch etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Pompeii and a lot of the credit must go to the Hotel Maiuri and its fantastic staff!

8.0The hotel has private parking which is quite good for those traveling in rental cars. The room is standard simple and clean. Bathroom is alright, the cubicle doors are a little fiddly but got perfect water pressure. The staff is amazing, friendly and tentative, provided suggestions for dining. We had a delicious seafood dinner at one of the restaurants they recommended nearby!

10.0Hotel Maiuri was a gem in Pompeii! beautiful clean rooms; nice professional staff and a lovely breakfast included. We were able to walk to it from the train station. We walked to a restaurant and had a lovely evening. The ruins were a bit of a hike but our group likes to walk. I would return to Hotel Maiuri without hesitation!
