Very disappointing stay — poor management and serious issues

The only positive thing I can say is that the housekeeping staff were excellent. They were friendly and did a good job, and I have no complaints about them.

− Very disappointing stay — Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was very disappointing. The most unacceptable issue was the lack of communication and attention from the staff. During check-in, I was asked if I had a car. I clearly said that I did not have one, and the employee acknowledged this information. However, the next day at around 1:30 AM, I received a message on my personal phone asking me to remove my car or it could be towed. I did not have a car, and this message woke me up in the middle of the night. After I finally fell asleep again, I received another message at 7:30 AM asking if I had removed the car. Instead of checking the situation themselves, the hotel contacted a sleeping guest again because of their own mistake. The hotel itself is very old and has a strong smell of humidity and mold throughout the building. I even saw staff using scented candles to try to cover the smell, but it did not help. The room was also very humid and stuffy. The air conditioning system was extremely noisy, constantly turning on and off, which made it difficult to sleep. The old refrigerator in the room was also very loud, and we had to unplug it at night. Another serious concern was the continental breakfast area. I found flies around the food, including sitting on meat/products. I have photos as proof, and this is completely unacceptable from a hygiene perspective. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend staying here.

Front desk staff was helpful and friendly. Elevator. Breakfast was good, staff could keep better eye on what's empty, missing, etc. (Eg Both mornings, milk was virtually empty. Our guest needed a spoon, took a dirty one from bin and washed it in the washroom to eat his yoghurt. ) Enjoyed knowing history of the 100+ yr old building. Furnishings are modern and lovely.

− As above. Parking was a bit of pain, no spots left on property and had to move street parking from one place to another before 7:30 am.

I would definitely come again!

Short walk to Rue Ontario and lots of food and bars. Property manager very nice and helpful. Very nice continental breakfast. Room was clean and tidy.
