Wet Bedding, Broken Bathroom and Completely Ignored Complaints

I STRONGLY WARN TRAVELERS TO THINK TWICE BEFORE BOOKING THIS PROPERTY. My week-long stay at Tradewinds Apartment Hotel in Miami over the New Year period was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. The room was completely different from what was advertised in the photos. The apartment was extremely outdated, poorly maintained, and many things were broken or barely functioning. The bathroom was in terrible condition with damaged tiles and leaking plumbing. Water from the shower and fixtures was constantly running onto the floor. The biggest issue was the severe humidity and condensation in the room. Water was literally running down the windows like rain. The bedding and mattress felt damp the entire time because there was no proper ventilation or dehumidification system. Sleeping in those conditions for several nights was extremely uncomfortable and unhealthy. Despite raising these issues multiple times during my stay, the hotel staff ignored my complaints. No meaningful solution was offered until the very last day, when I was already checking out. This was also a business trip combined with New Year travel, and I arrived healthy but left feeling sick after spending a week in a damp room and sleeping in wet bedding. To make matters worse, the booking platform (Hotels in America / Super.com support) refused to take responsibility and simply redirected me back to the hotel. The hotel then denied any refund, even though I documented the condition of the room with photos. In my opinion, this is extremely misleading advertising and very poor customer service. Travelers should be aware that the actual condition of the property may be very different from what is presented online. I travel to Miami frequently and have stayed in many hotels there, but I have never experienced conditions like this. I strongly recommend that travelers carefully reconsider before booking this property.

Booked a double bed room and received a single bed, was told they ended up selling out and I was lied to at booking, so they couldn’t do anything. Room was dirty, dishes and towels were dirty, oven didn’t work and front door to the room had a gap so big you could look into the room from outside. I had to put plastic bags in the gap so you couldn’t see into the room. Also there is a $35 a day fee that was not disclosed at time of reservation. Would never recommend a stay here. Staff did nothing to assist and acted as if it wasn’t their problem at all.

Disappointing Stay with Multiple Issues

First, the check-in was at 4 PM EST. I’ve never heard of a hotel with such a late and strict check-in policy. When I got in, the shower light flickered whenever I turned it off and back on. Then, there was hammering on the wall from the next room, and I couldn’t tell where it was coming from. Shortly after, my neighbor knocked on my door accusing me of making the noise while he was trying to sleep. I had to tell him several times that it wasn’t me. The room also starts to smell after a day if you turn off the AC when it gets cold at night. Finally, the bedside table and lamp are so unstable that you can easily knock them over. I’m not sure why they chose that kind of furniture—surely they could have picked something better. The furniture arrangement overall is just terrible. The location is okay, but the building is quite dated. I tried to give this place more than one star based on my experience, but honestly, I just can’t....

Very old and dirty hotel

What a disappointment! The rooms are very run-down. There is a musty smell… all the equipment is broken (shower buttons, TV not working, etc.). Nothing like the photos. The hotel must have been nice about 25 years ago… Housekeeping was done only once during the entire stay. The key cards get demagnetized every day. The swimming pool is not maintained. The only positive point is the location, as it is close to the beaches. Major renovation work is clearly needed.

I do not recommend this property. I arrived for my stay and immediately encountered serious issues with the room condition. The room had a strong and persistent chemical/bleach smell, appeared old, worn, and poorly maintained, and the overall cleanliness was unacceptable. I was shown multiple rooms, but they all had the same problems. This was not a minor inconvenience — it became a health and safety issue. My child is allergic to bleach, and the odor made it impossible for my family to stay. In addition, there were basic comfort issues (including lack of hot water), which made the accommodation uninhabitable for us. I reported the situation immediately at reception and contacted the booking platform while still on site. Despite hours of trying to resolve the issue and providing photos/videos, no suitable solution was offered. We were forced to leave the property the same day and find alternative accommodation during our vacation. From the outside, the building looks acceptable, but the actual room conditions do not match what is advertised online. Based on our experience, I strongly advise future guests to be cautious, especially families or anyone with sensitivities or health concerns.

Bad check-in, no pool

Service and business methods are poor. Check-in can take an hour. Pool will close for days without warning and no compensation even though resort fee collected.
