6.0Lovely pub garden and pub itself is very lovely, nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly. Dog friendly. Breakfast was simple but very nice. Shame we missed out on lunch as the food looked very nice too and would have loved to taste it.
− We arrived at around 2.30pm and our room was already ready to check in which was great. However, when we later came down, around 2.40pm and wanted to order lunch and enjoy the pub garden we were told the kitchen was now closed for food orders. We were quite disappointed as we were not informed they were taking last orders upon arrival as in this case we would have ordered straight away. They technically also advertise last orders being at 2.45 and we were asking for food 5 min before that. I appreciate that last orders have to be called at some point but it would have been better customer service to inform us at check-in so we could have ordered then. It was also disappointing as we then sat in the garden with our drinks and many food orders were still being delivered. We wanted to order pizza and we saw them still being prepared when we wanted to order. The room was good but it was extremly hot and despite the provision of fans did not cool down so it was a quite uncomfortable night. But I appreciate it was a warm weekend.

Great service from a pub with rooms that is at the top of its game.
9.0Recently renovated in a lovely shabby-chic style, the pub is run by an extremely affable landlord. Service was swift and personable. The room was absolutely fine, nicely decorated and the bathroom had quality fixtures (Mira shower, Duravit loo). Maybe the mattress was a bit soft but nevertheless I had a comfortable night's sleep. I stayed the night of the England v Argentina football match so the bar was busy and my room's windows opened over the pub garden but the locals in attendance watching the match on a screen were a personable bunch so the atmosphere was friendly. Food in the bar was excellent and good quality and there was a good choice of beers on tap. Breakfast included in the price was continental and of good quality but not generous. Service and welcome in the morning was fine but not a patch on the previous evening. For example, I wasn't offered tea or coffee.
− Apart from the mattress being firmer, nothing, and I realise this is a highly personal preference.
